Jaren Lockhart Case Still Not Solved

New Orleans stripper Jaren Lockhart was brutally murdered and dismembered in June, and even though there are two prime suspects in this case there appears to be no real movement. There are no investigative updates being provided by police but one of the suspects recently took a guilty plea over a sex offender charge. Terry Speaks was an absconded sex offender when he presumably helped kill the exotic dancer.

It's bad enough that the other suspect, Margaret Sanchez, is free on bond but the fact that there are no real updates indicates that detectives are at a standstill. On the other hand, Terry Speaks is facing 10 years in prison with a possibility of lifetime supervision after his release. That's good enough to keep him on the radar during this investigation. Do officials believe he was more responsible for Lockhart's murder than Sanchez?

This is a horrible case all around. Jaren Lockhart was a beautiful 23-year-old mother of a young child. She was doing what she could to make ends meet to provide for her child, and all of that was ripped away from her. That life was torn away from a little girl who will never know her mother beyond the short three years of her life that she was alive.

This might be the case of a man who spent too much time tricking at the strip club. Instead of facing his woman's wrath, he blamed it on an innocent, young mother trying to make ends meet. Now a child is a ward of the state.

Margaret Sanchez is not out on bond. Other than a traffic violation, her only charge was harboring a sex offender. The DA decided there was not enough evidence to prove she knew Terry Speaks was a sex offender, so they had to drop the charge. And according to the lead investigator, this is still an active case, waiting on the FBI to finish with it's forensic investigation of the evidence. Speaks and Sanchez are still "our primary suspects," Grannan said. The FBI crime lab last week said it would place a higher priority on processing items gathered as possible evidence in Lockhart's killing, he said.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that she was given credit for time served on the traffic violation and the harboring a sex offender charge was dropped.
