This is one of the most frighteningly informative books I've read about media industry. What's here is vital need to know, right now. Time allowing, I'm going to go reread my review of it and pick out a short blurb to add here... if I can wade through the epistle length to pick out a gem. Jack's writing is so clean I feel like I'm suddenly breathing fresh air whenever I read it, even tho his subjects/themes expose truly deadly stuff.

I'd love that, Linda, the high points of your Amazon review. Perhaps self-serving, but I do feel that "Bathsheba" speaks for the moment...on two major counts: 1. media bias and media distortions 2, the clash of civilizations. You nailed all that in your review (as you do in all your reviews).

That's a major accomplishment which Bathsheba has honored with high art and intense entertainment.

as I recall, Linda, that review captured all the complexity of the book as well as its message. you'll have a hard time improving on it. Jack and I were both extremely impressed.

Thank you for the compliment, John. I didn't explain clearly. I was hoping to be able to add an excerpted blurb from my review here like the ones in Jack's post. I don't intend to change the review, even though my style doesn't fit Amazon readers, which I understand.

But I'm too pushed right now to do a copy/paste from the review... Sick again with a horrible cold, wanting to launch JGW, ready to start the sequel to JGW, and trying to honor home needs. The astro cycle right now its one of overwhelm and push to get to the most life and death vital issues taken care of in the face of more demands on time than can be honored.

But this book is indeed vital, along with JGW. But the blurbs already shared here on Bathsheba are prime, and those interested can read what catches them in the reviews on the product page.

Jack knows he is welcome to share anything I write which will help his cause, as are you.

The first opening words in the above quoted passage from my review of the BATHSHEBA DEADLINE attempt poorly to describe Jack's written style, followed by proof of the praise, a quote of Jack's words.

The capacity to renew is embedded within word groups when each word is chosen with absolute precision which IMO comes from a soul connected author with that connection so pure the flow comes unpolluted from a Right Brain connection. Well done, Jack.

Hey, Linda...I just bought/downloaded JOHN GALT WALKABOUT...and made sure to buy it before it went free...paid the full price, $5 and change, because we're in it for the love of writing but, at the same time, doesn't hurt to get some MONEY for all the work we do. I look forward to reading another Shelnutt gem...and by the way, there's no way to compare talent, for as you say, you are you and I am me and long live LA DIFFERENCE (or however they say it in French).

Yes, I watch sales ranks like a hawk, too, lol! It is taking longer this time, but that gives me something fun to do each time I go online, checking to see what the number will be when it clicks in.

When I checked last night at 11 pm MDT, the rank showed... It had gone from 300,000s to 85,000s!!! That's a better jump than I expected. Thanks again, Jack. I think you'll find it a unique read. I like reading the main content first, then the captions list after, and using the links to look again at the photos from that after read perspective, linking back and form from caption to photo to caption. But it would be interesting to know how it works reading the captions as part of the main content reading sequence. It's a strangely relaxing read, yet mentally energizing.

And the more I recall your Bathsheba, the more currently important it feels.
