Woman's Torso Discovered--Who Is It?

A woman's torso was recently discovered in Canada near Niagara Falls. After a week of determination, officials believe that the severed body part could have washed up from the U.S. -- which is a disturbing thought. Could this be the body of a missing woman from here in the U.S.A? Hopefully the FBI gets involved with this latest discovery to aid in the search for the identity of these remains.

Police confirm that this human torso is not connected to the porn actor Luke Magnotta. So this is a whole new case that could have originated from the States, most likely New York or nearby. It may also be helpful if members of missing people contact the authorities if you have suspicion. This is a truly disturbing case that appears to indicate a growing trend of dismemberment, at least the way it's being reported in the media. Another similar case in the news this year involved the horrific slaying of New Orleans dancer Jaren Lockhart. Her case is still not 100% solved, as one of the only suspects was recently released.

Dismemberments are highly intimate crimes that take a certain type of mentality to be able to commit them. The type of criminal who dismembers his or her victims is someone who may have sociopathic tendencies, someone who isn't stirred when it comes to committing murder and the act of cutting up another human person. Hopefully more details come in soon.

This comes on the heels of another murder-dismemberment case in Toronto in which a Chinese woman was killed and the pieces of her body scattered around the outskirts of the city. Her boyfriend has been charged.

This is something else ill never get. Why are you in a relationship with someone & you dislike the person that much, you would cut them into pieces. Why not, just leave them?!?! I guess ill never understand because I'm not a murderer, but I still find it quite interesting as to the 'whys'.

It's not about love, its about control and domination. It's about possession. "If I can't have you, no one can."

The dismemberment, while gruesome, is an afterthought to the murder. Killing them was the goal, cutting them up was a sordid attempt to get away with it.

Rory, you are so right. I had an ex basically say that 'If I can't have you, no one will'. I put up with a lot and wasn't until after he strangled me that I finally pressed charges & had him arrested. If I hadn't done that, I guarantee id probably dead today. I'm sure woman, just like men, have those red flags as well. If they don't use those flags to get out, a warning sign he's going to get worse, than he/she may kill you. Its an extremely scary scary feeling to be strangled & staring into the eyes of someone who's suppose to love, while struggling gasping for air. That night I really thought I was going to lose my life. Luckily, he like snapped out of it. Almost as if he was possessed or something. Had he not, id hasve been dead for sure.

Sorry about my long paragraph, life story lol, just expressing my experience of the possessive jealous boyfriend, now ex who went to jail.

Chelsea, this is disgusting & scary. It does seem like there is a trend lately. Its almost the 'norm' it seems for murderers. Almost like its no longer 'taboo'. I don't become alarmed wwhen I first read dismemberment, like I used too. So to think that its becoming more trendy for muderer's scares me. This could've happened to any one of us or are family members.

People are nothing if not followers of trends. It is distasteful enough in the world of fashion and pop culture, takes on a more macabre aspect in situations like this.

That's how I feel with kidnappers, baby killers & so on. Copy cats. Its just so hard to believe that its not shocking OMG moment to read dismemberment anymore. Almost like I'm used to reading this even though I'm not. Apologies for typos, my 1yr old loves to touch the screen & keys on my phone lol drives me nuts & looks like I can't spell or use proper grammar/punctuation lol
