Paul Ryan says he "really thought that was his time" when he said his marathon time was under 3 hours when he ran "Grandma's Marathon" in Duluth, Minnesota 22 years ago. Why did he get confused? He hurt his back sometime between then and now.
He's quoted on CNN's political ticker as saying, "I hurt my back when I was in my mid twenties, so obviously my perception of races and times were off." Who knew back injuries affected your brain?
What's this say about Paul Ryan? It shows his narcissism. It shows his willingness to lie and lie huge to make himself look better. And, if this was the only marathon he'd ever run, this author knows from first hand experience how much training goes into a mere half-marathon, having run one last year. Completing such a challenging feat is memorable. To quote a finish time a full hour off is even slightly delusional.
Granted, it takes a certain extra bit of narcissism to even run for President or Vice President. Thinking you have all the answers and are the best answer for the entire country is the epitome of narcissistic behavior. But, again, Ryan is supposed to be a numbers guy. If he's quoting incorrect marathon times, what kind of lies do you think he's spewing on a daily basis to potential voters about the economy and his supposed fixes?
By the way, the GOP darling Sarah Palin even finished a full 2 minutes faster than Ryan. Palin ran that time at age 41! And look how great of a VP candidate that fast runner was!

Time to go
I ran a half marathon last year and I don't remember my time. I know I didn't break any records or win the race. I was happy to have finished my first half marathon at over 6,695 ft (that's that elevation in Steamboat Springs - the race started higher in the mountains and went down into town).
Saying I finished in under 2 hours or something and then saying I forgot my real time of 3 hours because I stubbed my toe a few times since then would be a very strange response.
LOL...that actually sums it up nicely.
His first budget which claimed to slay the deficit (not the debt, the deficit) by, what, 2038 (!) would have disembowelled medicare and thrown the elderly on the tender mercies of the market place. When the political fallout of that reared its ugly head he adjusted his medicare plans to only give it a deep gut wound, but never bothered to mention what that did to his deficit targets. What it did was put them well beyond 2050.
This would mean a budget deficit each and every year until 2038 (if you want to toss grandma over the cliff) or each and every year until well beyond 2050. Each year's deficit is tacked on to the overall debt, which keeps growing and accumulating interest. So, Ryan would have the country keep adding debt for another half century or so, making the current nearly $16,000,000,000,000 debt seem like no big deal.
All to fit in a massive tax holiday for people who are already very, very rich. Because somehow being so rich that you could create jobs right now is not good enough, you have to get richer so that you will feel more like creating those jobs you don't feel like creating now, even though you could.
Republican logic. It's like hen's teeth.
Hen's have teeth? ;)
How can a person get the time wrong on the only marthon they have ran. And less than 25 years ago no less?
He is not even a good liar. Trying to pump up his chest and make himself look much better than he is. Makes me wonder how fast Obama and Biden are. Running a marathon under 4 hours is such a great quality to have in a President after all.
I am sure this lie is going to change a lot voters' minds who were going to vote for the Romeny/Ryan ticket. It's over for the GOP.
The present, with live eye-witnesses, is not so easy to lie about.
So Lyin' Ryan may not even be lying this time, he may actually remember his marathon as being near world record time, sees himself flying past the finish line, bursting through the tape triumphantly, and people showering him with flowers and cheers.
Isn't there medication for that?
What a proud legacy to leave to the surviving children. Go Demons!
Wowee the list of DemonCrap strong points is really inspiring. /sarc

That's what honest people do?
That's taking conspiracy theories to a whole new level.
Tell me, Eric, what is it that the GOP is going to cook up as a reason to try to impeach Obama after he wins re-election? I know the D.C. Republicans aren't simply going to let go of all that festered hatred.
I'm not a book reader to any great extent, but I do occasionally pick up one at the local Books A Million store and take it home for my after dinner literary consumption. If it's really as juicy as you make it seem to be, I sure would find this one interesting,
So, how about providing the title of this book you are railing so much about. Come on, don't keep your fellow GN members in suspense, instead, let us read about the suspense.
Talk about a disaster in the making !!!
The Fat Lady is always waiting just off stage to sing the final note of an operatic drama, with the above scenario in mind, this is one time we had all better keep our fingers crossed that she has an extreme case of laryngitis on November 4th. There can not be any stay at homer's on election day this time around. Every vote is needed if we are to preserve our nation's progress, as well as fair and just governing for all citizens.
I just took my mom to get her Colorado drivers license today and she couldn't get it because her middle name was not on her old Ohio drivers license. They wouldn't accept her social security card or a letter from U.S. Social Security office --- where she gets her income from -- as proof. She had to produce a birth certificate or passport. Needless to say, she had neither and she has less than 30 days to register to vote in this state.
Seems to me they are making it much more difficult than it needs to be.
