If you can relate to Honey Boo Boo's (Alana Thompson is the obnoxious child's real name) family, then you're in desperate need a counseling, a style change and a visit from the HGTV makeover team. Better yet, if you can relate to this family, just hang it up. Now. It's already too late.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, June Shannon (Alana Thompson's mom) believes that most viewers can relate to her family and the absurdity that makes them television stars.
The self-proclaimed redneck family includes Lana, the little girl pageant diva, along with Sugar Bear, the father figure; Pumpkin, the 12-year-old daughter; Chubbs, the 15-year-old daughter; Chickadee, the 17-year-old daughter; and then of course there's Mama June.
"Our fan base tells us that when they have a bad day they can be able to watch our show and be able to get a good laugh; I honestly laugh at the show too because it is kind of funny, because we know we have fun filming it. It's just all about having fun and making memories," she told Ryan Seacrest during a recent interview.
And despite the fact that she dresses little Alana up like a hooker and urges her to strut her little girl stuff in beauty pageants--and the fact that they have a pet pig--June says her first priority is being a mother.
"I am a parent first and foremost; I'm also their best friend and they're able to come to me about situations," she told Ryan. "We do act crazy a little bit, [but] we know when to be serious."
Can you relate to the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo family for any purpose other than pointing fingers and shaking your head? If so, you need an immediate intervention. And if not, kudos to you and your mode of parenting.
Mother like June Shannon should never have been blessed with children--or pigs, for that matter.
