One more (Gather) question

Ok, one more question and I'll stop asking today. :)

For those of you who have groups, why do you manage a group?  Do you get extra points for managing them.  I have groups in other systems but they are around subjects.  There, as I'm sure you know, are groups for nothing else but points on Gather.  I don't get it.

I don't know. I had some years ago but since I came back I don't do anything with them.

No, I don't think you get extra points. I run groups because I like reading, hearing, and seeing photos on certain subjects. All groups do is help others to find a certain subject they are looking for.

I don't know for sure but I don't think you get points for having a group. You ask good questions.

You do not get more points for owning a group. However, many groups help you connect with others of similar interests. And some help content reach a certain number of views, etc. So, basically it can help you get more views for your own content.

Nope, no extra points for running a group. I guess if you have a catch all group and actually read all the posts that are added every day, and comment, you do stand to make a lot of points, but you can do that without groups.

Well, I have three I think but only one is actively stuffed with content and managed. I do this to get together with people here who have the same interest (Zazzle.com).
As far as I know you don't get more points for it.

Renita gave you a good answer. I also feel like I see a bunch of posts that I would otherwise miss if I didn't own my group. It's a nice way to catch up and help others with views and comments. I don't think you earn anything specifically for owning a group, but I do see a points jump when I go view and comment on content that's been posted to my group.

I belong to a lot of groups~it's a great way to showcase your posts~I did an experiment once (ok, more than once), posting to a handful of groups, & nada. So it pays to post to as many groups as you can, but I'm always mindful of moderated & themed groups.
