After trying Zumba a few weeks ago, I started to search for free classes in NYC. One place I found was listed in Craig's list.
I showed up yesterday evening... I was told it started at 6 p.m. They JUST started to set up at that time... it would start at 6:30.
I was a little taken aback when I realized that the class was sponsored by Shaklee... a diet program. Turns out there was a weigh in, and measurement of my waist (oh, why did I eat so much yesterday?).
All of the five or six class participants were about my age, so this was NOT a strenuous class. I was able to last through the entire class (I'd been taking a half class each other time).
I was uncomfortable with the fact that there were “spectators”. A few women and men were just sitting around the room. Since many of the moves are hip swings and thrusts, the men seemed to be enjoying watching the women dance. UGH.
Since I am allergic to soy milk, and Shaklee diet products are either soy based or wheat gluten based, I won't be trying it, but there was no pressure.
One plus – if I work out enough, my appetite is decreased.

It's hard to tell them how to run it as I just started.
