As per requested by Tammy S., I am making a second more descriptive post about my daddy.
I probably have a 100 or more memories of my daddy. (He is still alive by the way, lol) I honestly hope to make a 100 more. In this post I will focus on a certain memory, that way it will not get too long and tedious.
One of my greatest memories is of a family vacation we took too Gulf Shores, Alabama when I was 16. It was me, daddy, my step-mom Jenny, and my 2 younger brothers Charles and Chet. We stayed in a beach front apartment that had a pool. I remember it being really nice, and having a full living room and kitchen. We made most of our meals in that apartment to save money for day trips. I can remember going grocery shopping at the local Publix down there and thinking how nice it was. LOL That was before Publix hit my area many years later. Anyways, I can remember daddy would cook all the meat on that vacation. All the sausages, burgers, steaks, and even fish sometimes. I thought it was so awesome that he was not working for once, and that we could actually see the relaxed side of dad. (It was very unusual to see my dad relax much when I was growing up.) I can remember that we went to the beach practically every morning. Dad would get in the water up to his knees with me, he showed me some sand bars where we watched fish swim by, and we all went fishing off of the pier. I can remember that even though he hated the idea of getting in the pool, he would sit outside with us reading a book or newspaper. He even did "church" on the beach on Sunday mornings before we would go out for our daily outing. Usually on the Sundays we would do the church pretty early, go out to breakfast, and then go fishing off the pier. I can remember riding go karts with dad, and then racing him and he would let me win every time. lol I also remember going to water parks, and museums and everything. The exact details escape me now, but I remember dad would usually do something silly like hide behind a display and through stuffed sharks at me! lol Usually at the same time, he would hum the "Jaws" them song! Hahahaha, it would embarrass the heck outta my step-mom! I love the memories of Gulf Shores so much and would totally love to go back there with my hubby and son.
If you all want another memory, just let me know!
**DISCLAIMER** The pictures of Gulf Shores, Alabama are in no way my property...nor do I claim them to be. I simply borrowed them from the Alabama tour page to show how pretty it is down there.
