Are your eyes deceiving you?
Is Newsweek?
Coming from Newsweek this is a question worth asking. I'm still waiting for the punchline. For all intents and purposes right now, this just is what it is.
Examiner.com- “I will have to see the actual cover to believe it,†Trisha Hart, a Republican supporting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. “I saw a photo of the alleged ‘Newsweek’ cover and it could be photoshopped. I’m hoping it is true, but I won’t know until I can hold it in my hands.â€
“I don’t think it is real,†LaQuiesha Washington, a liberal supporting Barack Obama and Joe Biden, said. “Even if that is the cover, the numbers are faked. Everyone knows Obama is doing a great job and everyone is better off than we’ve been in years.â€
The Newsweek article is written by Niall Ferguson, a prominent British historian and economist who states his case for why Obama must go. He's an Oxford-trained Harvard historian once touted by Time Magazine as among the most influential in the world.
Newsmax- “In his inaugural address, Obama promised ‘not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.’†Ferguson writes in the cover story, “Hit the Road, Barack: Why We Need a New President.â€
“He promised to ‘build the roads and bridges, the electric grids, and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together.’ He promised to ‘restore science to its rightful place and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost.’†wrote Ferguson, who made some of the same arguments in a March 2012 Newsmax cover story. “And he promised to ‘transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age.’ Unfortunately the president’s scorecard on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful.â€
“Welcome to Obama’s America: nearly half the population is not represented on a taxable return—almost exactly the same proportion that lives in a household where at least one member receives some type of government benefit,†Ferguson writes. “We are becoming the 50–50 nation—half of us paying the taxes, the other half receiving the benefits.â€
Since Tina Brown's Daily Beast took over Newsweek, which recently said it will soon cease to print the publication, the magazine has been one of the most left-leaning publications in the country.
The Left is already scampering to discredit Ferguson and his article, but that can hardly dismiss the most obvious: Apparently Newsweek made this their cover story - along with its remarkable headline. It comes amid mounting accounts of Democrats and Leftist unions fleeing the Obama camp like scampering rats from a sinking ship*. Even a pollster in Obama's home state of Illinois does not bode well for Obama.
More good coverage can be found on The Daily Beast with a Niall Ferguson video. The most telling comment came from PJMedia:
Nevertheless, Niall Ferguson’s attack on Obama for Newsweek, of all places, and The Daily Beast could be the tip of a coming iceberg, even though Ferguson is a former McCain supporter. His analysis of the Obama presidency is so thorough and devastating it cannot be completely ignored by the mainstream media, no matter how much they may wish to.
Is Newsweek this desperate to sell magazines? Is this an Obama fund raising gimmick in disguise? Or could this simply be the dire straits that Team Obama finds itself in, on these last legs of its 2012 re-election? Time will tell.
*This anomaly brought to mind another story I'd seen recently about more "innocuous" government agencies, the Social Security Administration and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in addition the DHS, loading up with stockloads of hollow point ammunition? Hmm ... ?
"Honey ... I'm home."

As the whining flag on this article well demonstrates, LOL.
Oh yes
GOOD one! TRUE TRUE.
...nothing new, same goal, LIE LIE LIE.
Ryan's plan DOES NOT affect seniors at all, but the dems will lie and the media will parrot. In fact, it doesn't affect anyone 55 or older, AND everyone will STILL have the option to stay on the old medicare plan if they so choose. SO, the message that the leftist are putting out there IS A BOLD FACED LIE!
Nate, you pick up on the best remarks. This IS so true!
...nothing new, same goal, LIE LIE LIE.
Nate, the option part you mentioned is just as important, too, as well as the reserve they make available (I forget its proper terminology). From what I understand adults 55 and under should be very pleased that they are given these perks in addition to more health care choices of their own AND saving the program for everyone else to come.
...hit the road Barack, and dontcha come back No Mo!!!
LOVE IT!!
"Yes Barack "Hit the Road, and dontcha come back no mo, no mo, no mo, no mo!"
ROFL! It's good to see you again, lady.
''Hit the road, Barack, and don'cha come back NO MO. Nevuh evuh agin no mo!"
Have you ever seen such a bunch of whiners as here on Gather? [Fren shakes head.] No wonder this country is in the shape it's in. I'm into "Social Flagging, Share The Flag!"
THIS seems pretty childish. I would also consider it's avatar a threat to national security. Maybe there should be a new flag, one requesting sympathy for big babies.
Nate, You make me laugh so much. Am I allowed to laugh? Forgot to ask. Darn, Hall Monitor is gone already. Where are they when you really need a Hall Monitor??
VICKEY, you make a legitimate point. But as you said, they've hung out on Gather so long now they probably receive dividend checks - ha. Eh, pffft, that's what I say to whiner's flags :).
Walk soflty and carry a big stick :).
Welcome back, you little trouble-maker-you!
Why the heck has this been flagged? So silly. I think the approach of copying a "MediaMatters, MoveOn, ThinkProgress, etc" article into a comment is silly. People should think for themselves and if they want to support their thoughts with a link to an article, that is a different story. The problem is, their thoughts are fed to them by the media. This is why people can say things about Glenn Beck being racist, for example - they do not actually listen to him.
If they can't think for themselves, they have no business clogging others' intelligent and well contemplated conversations.
We are so glad you are back, my friend...
It's good to be back, Vic. I'm going to need to get faster at this, though, lol. All we can do is keep bringing truths to the table. Americans are smart, Obama grossly underestimates US!
I know, I must've broken some flagging record, right? I think we should start a record book, seriously, and see who gets the best flags. I marked mine with a comment so I'd know the time, I need to go find it and make the first entry. We could score them like they do at the Olympics, you know, hold cards up. My flag HAS to be a 10. Hand out medals. Then we could compete with other social sites, hold District Challenges, go to State then Nationals. No globals, no way, not allowed - too many flags. Yeh, that's what we need to do! I am woman, hear me ROOOAAR.
I feel like I know you already, too, Big Mama. Thanks for finally getting your big rump over here :)!
I could also recommend "NEW LIES FOR OLD by Anatoliy Golitsyn, published in 1984 and 1990 by Clarion House, in which a former Soviet insider predicts and warns that an anti-Communist revolution in Russia would be a sham designed to end the Cold War while cloaking Communism for an eventual push to create a "neutral Socialist Europe" and advancing American Communism by removing any stigma of treason from its doctrines in this country.
And YES, "...and advancing American Communism by removing any stigma of treason from its doctrines..."
...in their "45 Declared Communist Goals"
#12) Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
#13) Do away with loyalty oaths.
#33) Eliminate all laws or procedures, which interfere with the operation
of the Communist apparatus.
...as far as Europe goes, all the dominoes are set up, Europe is all socialist, if America falls, the world falls. Is it any wonder that during the 2008 elections, it was the dEMOCRATS who pushed for us to become more like Europe. (the lower case "d" is NOT a mistype, I have zero respect for the party). Ever since, it has been the left who has been telling us how "great" Europe is. We see them here on Gather doing exactly the same thing.
...I believe so too.
...though I would not give them the out or excuse and say "I do not think they understand what they are for." So many know EXACTLY what they are doing, and they show all the signs of being trained in this type of propaganda.
...MAN!! You're on a roll today!!! ...another good one.
I'm not sure about water boarding, trying to ram sweet biscuits down your throat until you choke maybe (you Americans call them something else, they are often eaten with milk)
...I think it's "Oh Happy Day"
A mangonel is a giant catapult that was used to hurl boulders at castle walls. A trebuchet is similar but has three buckets that were filled with balls of burning wood and oil or fat. These were hurled over town or castle walls to start fires inside.
There were Thorpes at Agincourt (upon Saint Crispin's Day) and Crecy you know.
Have you caught on to all my cookie (biscuit) allusions yet?
EAGLE, thanks for that great reading material. Makes me wish I could hold them up to my head and just absorb them :).
Spoken by a true artist. Great analogy, Mari.
Your writing is intoxicating. Tell Nate I'll be back later and come hang with me for awhile :).
It was my wedding reception song: "Ce-l-l-a-BRA-tion time, Come On!" Ohhh yeahhhh.
HERE IS IT: CELEBRATION TIME, COME ON!
[waving hand frantically - again] I did! I did! It only took me 5-hours to get to this string, sigh.
D'souza described what I've believed for 2-3 years but not necessarily as you coined it. It relates to what Nate says about "overwhelming the system," which breaks America financially much like breaking the spirit of a horse.
That strategy relies on class warfare, division, 'social justice,' and 'share the wealth,' but those are far from real "beliefs." They are merely a means to the bigger end. It uses people who're sucked into that fake belief system now, to bring all of us down until America is of equal or less standing among global nations, i.e., the U.N., within the New World Order. In that scenario no country like us can be any stronger or of higher standing than the other counties. It is necessary to knock us down off the world pedastal we've had for more than 200 years.
Look back at ALL of the totally irrational financial consequences we're paying now, like unnecessarily losing jobs and stifling job creation, Obama's undermining small businesses and the HUGE amounts of Taxpayer monies he repeatedly and literally throws away. Consider how Obama gives more and more of our money to more and more foreign countries and more and more to the likes of MuslimBro; think about his endless list of "bad investments" (not) in "green energy" (fake) companies one after another after another; and the countless idiot throw-aways we hear about with more new ones every new day. No pres just happens into that sort of 'bad luck' or is that blatantly stupid. It goes on and on and on, as if our money is a water spicket that can't be turned off. In effect, it is. IMO, that's very deliberate and Obama only wishes he could throw it away faster.
I am surprised (and Obama probably is too) that Americans have held as strong and steadfast as we have. It speaks highly of us at the rate he's going. God bless our Patriots. Now Obama just needs "four more years" (more like months) to finish it or we do have a real chance of bringing ourselves back up.
That begs the question what Obama et al have to gain. Well obviously he and his crew live darned high on the hog on us. They view themselves as rulers of the world. Power. Position. Greed. They won't have to share any of it, it will all be theirs. They perceive themselves as Greek Myth gods sitting in white robes around a pool where they can look down on all the rest of us. We are not people, we're scampering anthills doing their biddings. At that point there are NO lines in the sand. Class warfare and 'fair share' are long gone. No Leftist will be one iota better off than any other of us, if not worse for them because they will be the most disillusioned representing the biggest threat.
That paints a dreary picture, but that is what I see if America isn't prepared to stand and fight fiercely for our country in this election.
"America is like a healthy body and it's resistance is threefold: it's patriotism, it's morality, and it's spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within." - Joseph Stalin (we can see that Obama and the democrats have been chipping away at these three areas at a record pace)
"The goal of socialism is communism."
- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
There is no greater system than the American Capitalist system. No other system in world history has created so much wealth and lifted the living standards of so many people. Capitalism hasn't failed. It is the ever increasing infusion of socialist into the Capitalist system that has failed. Few see it for what it is. "Overwhelm the System" was designed by communists to break Capitalism by shear overload. Bankrupting America is Obama's goal.
They are caught up in the class envy message that Obama has been preaching his whole community activist career.
If anyone on Gather played these people for the Fools that Obama is playing them with the ruses of "social justice" and "share the wealth," they'd be up in arms gang-banging them in their 'woe is me' pity parties. They've no idea those are baited hooks are just waiting to reel them in. Fools are fools. Only they can change that.

I only now realize how close America came to destruction under Carter years. Yes, this has been the Democrat Agenda throughout time. Reagan was so keen on the dangers of their agenda. What's almost laughable is that even some politicans are being used as their Useful Idiots, many not realizing themselves that if those powers come into play in America, they will be among the first to be extinguished because they present more of a threat to their own cause than those who oppose their cause do. They will feel the most cheated, the worst deceived, they will be their cause's worst enemy. Their agony will be much greater.

'Social justice' and 'share the wealth' are the worms on the hooks. Those who fall for it are fools of the worst kind. Their place in this world and the one hereafter will be wrought with eternal sufferings. Hopefully more will open their eyes before it is too late. For themselves and their families, if not for mankind.
America is the last shining light on the hill. There is no free country to escape to after US. Americans of all nationalities and beliefs must not allow this administration's ruses to divide them. Our strength is in our numbers ... and God.
IF the US falls, the ENTIRE world falls.
That is a true reality that is not better stated. It is that simply put. All of your points are very well made, Nate. All of them.
I had a doc appt yesterday as well and I'd missed a couple of night's sleep (do that ever so often), so I was deliriously wired. She took bp and it was "He-l-l-l-o!" She's new for me and will changed a med after seeing my cardio records. Hope I don't get yours - lol! Those inherited conditions are not fun, but thank God there are reasonable ways to treat them.
BTW, I left a couple of links for you on the Radical Islam article, I think the black gentleman you referred to seeing might be Mychal Massie of Project 21?
Of course if the article was in NEWSMAX first, a conservative-leaning publication, and the quotes you include suggest otherwise. Yes it could be reverse psychology since we can be quite sure Obama and his gang are not any more likely to abandon their cause than any other amoral Chicago mafia-style bunch which has "fixed" law enforcement in their favor.
As to the reelection chances, not meaning to toss a wet blanket over the optimism shown here, there remains the ongoing infusion of Democrat support from waves of illegal immigrants, looming amnesties, defense of Motor Voter blocking protection of one-man-one-vote, mass vote mobilization of union members likes SEIU, etc. If they still have Soros on their side they can count on MOVE ON.Org to continue to feed publicity favorable to Obama and more smears on Romney/Ryan to their major news outlets, as well as on his now Spanish-based vote counting company to twist the vote O's way regardless.
Yet there is reason to hope that nonetheless truth and justice will prevail. The hunger for and desire to retain freedom is after all a powerful force, and one can hope that most Americans probably still recognize one way or another that the offer of maximum individual liberty which the Founders included in the Constitution was not intended to merely entrench and perpetuate the dominance of an economic elite as Marx later suggested, but to offer real opportunity for as many individuals as possible to maximize their happiness and satisfactions in life in important ways, which no politician-bureaucrat-controlled society could ever hope to do.
...ha, I thought that was exactly what he's been doing.
..."...new way to snow the American people" seems to be in the form of the left's weekly FAUX outrage topics.
Eagle, it is ALWAYS great to see your firm grasp of reality, shown in print. I miss you when you're gone. I think many will agree, you speak the undeniable truth.
[Reference original comment section that you italicized.]
OMG!!! everyone who gets their info exclusively from the LSM that is. This is so upside down it is astonishing in its ignorance!
Agreed. It's amazing he professes to know more about MY "women's rights" than I do. ROFL. But that's how the Left rolls. Totally ignorant of walking in another's skin, but they profess to know more about living in that skin than the person who actually lives in it does. Sick. That is just sick, I don't care who you are.
Like Obama & Co. aren't misleading the people every day. Just one example: who is it who is trying to suppress the Republican military vote in Ohio? Did you even hear about that? Probably not.
That speaks well for me. There are SO many more examples but honestly, I am sick of wasting my time on those who have no interest in real facts, are more content creating their own. The Dems have such soft clay with which to work in their zombies, don't they?
I have a Socialist .. who seldom has heard of anything the least bit critical of Obama because he gets his news from five of the Six Socialist TV Network Sisters .. and TIME magazine. So I'm not surprised to see there are still so many people with their political heads so completely uip their backsides.
Good statement! And notice how Time Magazine is their favorite rag until they see another rag has dissed a guy they're told to diss so suddenly the old Time rag doesn't count until they need to yank from it again. Makes you wonder how fickle their relationships are, they probably don't bother themselves with marraiges?
I'm just a bit surprised to still see so many otherwise intelligent people continuing to spew the far left's fabrications, smears and "inverted truths" as though they are gospel. But then our education system and our media have become so extensively controlled by the far left mentality it is understandable how such occurs despite four years of contrary reality
Wow, you say it so well I don't have to add a thing. Absolutely!
What you describe as our obstacles in this election are all certainly there to be dealt with. No question about that. We deserve these days in the sun, we must take them while the sun is shining :).
The obstacles can surely appear to be insurmountable, but Crhsitians have a power that non believers do not: God. Prayer. I know that power. I may question if God's Will is what I want it to be, but I do not question His power. Believers are drawing on it right now, they have for some time, and they will be even more so. It protects us. I know this because I have known it as my own. I can only assure you with wholehearted confidence, our prayers will do what we cannot. Nothing is truly insuramountable.
"Yet there is reason to hope that nonetheless truth and justice will prevail. The hunger for and desire to retain freedom is after all a powerful force"
Yes. That is exactly how my God handles things :).
I think one of the articles stated that the owner of The Daily Beast link had purchased Newsweek, I think it was for a measely $1. That's how bad off Newsweek was. The DB web page had the best article and all of the other artciles were just rehashing its quotes, so that seemed to be the case?
I hadn't heard Newsweek was going to online subscriptions only, that's interesting and good luck in selling those. From what I saw reported on tv tonight, it seems this issue will be in print. Karl Rove gave the article high commendations based on the quality of Ferguson as an economist.
It's good to see you again, John.
Was about to send out a posse lol.
HA
I agree with fo'mo however, that Obama does have all that is needed, to create jobs, and return our economy to prosperity.
The nice thng is, it only requires two of the tools available to him - A Mont Blanc, and White House stationary. Further, only two words need be insrcibed "I quit".
Mick, I have to reply to this down here 'cause the guy up there took his toys and went home :). Knowing the Left's campaign of "hate & anger," I suspect that Harassment flag will soon be upgraded to something like, say, Copyright Infringement or Hate Speech, lol. That's how the Gather Left rolls.
Yes, An "I quit" would be fine by me plus millions more! You're right, Obama had more tools than he deserved and needed, and he still couldn't do it. He's gotta go.
I recently had one that was flagged as hate speech - wrote to Chuck, and a day or two later it was removed!
You are so right. Americans are soaking in the truths about Obama. It's about time they came out. I can't wait to see the 2016 Movie either. I read several occasions of where it was grossing more than expected with some theatres selling out. Ohhh yea!
Obama's America 2016 movie trailer
53 seconds that should end a presidency
HA! I saw that one too. Typical, it would HAVE to be someone else's fault, it surely couldn't be the infallible one.
"Just pull the sting and "Chatty Cathy" will repeat any one of 11 pre-recorded, canned responses."
Nate, you saved me from myself. I almost fell into responding logically ... then realized who'd be receiving it. The overly simplified Krugman/Politico statement was apparently designed for parroting. The CBO says their update doesn't include full impact of all Obamacare provisions; and the CBO expressed no immediate plans for doing an estimate that does.
With complex equsions using dollars in the Billions & Trillions, working with INcomplete assumptions is like "being a little bit pregnant." To say nothing of how nortoriously awry CBO estimates are historically; and given the CBO's past misses on Obamacare estimates, alone.
Incomplete data is what produced Obama's first huge chasm of discrepancy. The CBO projected around $900-billion in 2010 compared to the $2.4-trillion they estimated when more was known by 2012. That is a hu-mong-ous discrepancy.
The purpose of Fergusons' work was TO provide an independent professional opinion outside of government. He is more than qualified to do that, whether people want to believe him or not. I assure you, a man of Ferguson's caliber is not going to jeopardize his renown status on an overly simplistic statement the likes of what Krugman accuses, you can take that to the bank.
For Politico to throw together a half-butted assessment of Ferguson's work with no correlation to his assumptions, which took days if not weeks of his analysis, then to feign some supererior product in only a few short hours, is totally preposterous.
It takes a willingness to use one's good common sense regardless of propaganda they may want or not want to hear. IMO Krugman's oversimplification was intended to discredit a world renown, Harvard educated economist and historian, within mere hours of an article that wasn't even itself yet determined factual.
THAT's when it's time to pull out our God-given common sense and ask: What's wrong with this picture?
...it's ALWAYS "...time to pull out our God-given common sense..."
So much of it is already implemented I do NOT see it going away, regardless of what Republicans scream!
Too much money involved in the bribes, kickbacks, lobbyists et all.
The invisible isle is no longer invisible!
I started feeling Obamacare's funding, sky rocketing price increases and reduced medical services right away, almost as soon as if not before it was made Law. The additional taxes and continued reduced services are certainly a very real concern. But because I've felt some of that for so long already, IMO any improvement through Repeal is better than just sitting back and letting Obamacare, as the moster it is, complete its destruction.
...somewhere, in a dark corner, and in a fetal position, lies a sulking parrot.
And I bet he's poo-pooing ALLLL over his mastah's cage.
You are SO funny, you crack me up, rofl!
*sigh*
In fact, I find it both heartbreaking and often hilarious the lengths those devotees of a political hero will go to in defending them.
Will the Shadow fill me in please? ROFL.
Personally, my dear man, I don't give a darn what you or your inner angst think. Get a grip on it.
But that said, I do - and will - continue to comment.
If you don't mind, that is.
Mind, that is.
Case in point, as you did here, we all reveal who we are in all that we do and say, regardless of the words chosen. It is inescapable. The harder we try Not to, the more of ourselves we do reveal. It's comparable to one person finding a particular joke hilariously funny and another finding that same joke dull or even offensive. How we react to 'the nature' of a joke reveals us. You might as well 'be' who you are and, rather, work at putting the God-given talent you are to good use.
If we work harder at being some vague image of ourselves than we do at using that gift, then we might as well just pack a lunch a go fishin'.
'Got a neighbor with no election signs in their yard? have a friend who won't discuss politics with you? Need to know just a little more about those people you bump into on the web? Call Fren's Political Psychic Hotline and get the dope you need to define every person on the planet!
Just dial 900-polarizeme!'
Dang, Fren... you're a lot of fun. Thanks for the conversation and the laughs :)
Just as a suggestion, why don't you run dedicated post on the virtues of polarization. List point-by-point why zygoting oneself to a party or platform is healthier than taking each issue individually and making a stand independently.
If you do a good job with it, I'll stop by and paint a big target on my backside so you can play the part of the sainted matron of partisan politics while wielding your sword of righteous, political destiny.
Whatchya think??
"Healthier?" For whom, Mike? I need more wise guidance, don't leave me in a lurch here.
"If you do a good job with it, I'll stop by and paint a big target on my backside"
Your generosity is superceded only by your displays of pompous bigotry. But you know that already, you little stinker you ;]. I'd reciprocate the offer, but I can't think of one thing that would entice me to your articles.
I tell you what. If you'll stop wearing fanatically zealous facades of omnipotence on your sleeve and in my face, I'll set my articles Friends Only. That'll help you control succumbing to the many pitfalls of a saintly matron's enchantment.
A man's strongest virtue is the ability to discern good from evil; his weakest vulnerability is dancing between the aisles of his prideful selves.
I'm tryin' to quit.
Thinking, that is.
I see no need to alter my personal view of things simply to suit the political whims of someone else. Moreover, I abhor the way we have polarized our nation... creating of ourselves the house divided; weakening our voices into division and subdivision based on the shallowest invention of our species.
If this is my sin, then I will bear it. If you wish to withdraw from correspondence, that is your right. But I will not pretend to think, or to believe with my heart anything than what I genuinely do.
Thanks for your reply... have a nice day.
I had hoped to extend this conversation into something a little less dark. This isn't about conversation and debate. This is an political killing field.
I see that I made a mistake, my bad.
Best.
Fren...

Communication is a wonderful thing. If done properly, it can have an impact on the world. If it is manipulated and used as a weapon, it can actually confuse the very concept of "communication." It is also possible to use a vast display of words, and to literally say nothing. In other words, some have the ability to talk all day and say absolutely nothing. I am not attacking your character, Mike, but only addressing that specific comment. It serves no purpose other than to verbally attack (in your own distinctive manner) my dear friend, Fren. We see your words for their value, not for your intended direction, and only you will perceive it as a victory.
"I hardly think we need to knit pick on the small stuff like 'taking each issue individually and making a stand independently.' We have spent the last 100+ years being picked apart on the small stuff, little by little America has been chipped away, carved a little here, a little there."
Zealots think in terms of 'me,' so, by nature, what they find keen trickery is limited to what 'they,' themselves, would be tricked by. It doesn't occur to them that others might think in broader strokes. That limitation is their downfall ...You can quote me on that :).
PS - My offer to Fren was serious... run the post and I'll reply.
This is for Mike's edification and not that I expect that to happen, but purely for clarity: "I had hoped to extend this conversation into something a little less dark. This isn't about conversation and debate. This is an political killing field." Everyone but Mike is responsible for Mike's discontent.
But as this has worn on, it began to dawn on me that you weren't here to discuss or debate the subject you posted. Being new here and not familiar with names or the dangers of engaging some members, I stuck around, though. I never sought to talk around you... though, I do confess that some of my words were indeed meant with sarcasm but... I only gave back what you were tossing out.
This has been a learning experience... and while its never comfortable to be bushwhacked, it was quite educational.
Now then, you may take these words and dissect them, add seasoning and cook them as you please. This is my last comment to this thread.
The quandary you found yourself in here was either your own doing or it wasn't. (It was.) A "set-up" requires plotting and planning, Mike. It doesn't happen spontaneously in a public forum that's open to a world population of commenters. There was no plotting and planning. Should the article have made private just for the two of us? Is it inconceivable to you that all of us happened here independently and of our own volition? Are you so self-important that you actually believe people use their time conspiring against you? Please.
I'm perplexed by your nature, Mike. Your actions do not match your words. Your words contradict what the words themselves say. It's a clear picture of deliberate or inner chaos, I don't pretend to know which. But I do know chaos when it slap me in the face several times a day.
I would like to have chatted with you in a productive vein, Mike. You seemed intellectually challenging. But you couldn't get past the indignant stereotyping, categorization and, yes, "labeling."
Your comments are what drew the dialogue down. My first reply to you was clearly a good-natured feeler. The ball was in your court as to which way you wanted the conversation to go. That couldn't have been made more clear.
I know that you know being allusive in your wording is to generate curiosity and intrigue. In the hostile environment you say you saw directed at me here, if what you described of your first thoughts was true you are also keen minded enough to know that extending a hand of kindness would've gone a very long way. You opted for curious intrigue. "I didn't build that."
When articles become this filled, my computer has trouble keeping up with comment postings. If you'd like to Gather email, that'd be easier. Good wishes for you, either way.
"[We are] not to be considered enemies for simple existing on the other side of the fence, and it troubles some of us when that is implied by so many in these discussions. That created division is killing our nation."
You have SUCH a knack for clearly conveyed graciousness. Kudos to you.
I have been the subject matter of many comments and even an article... Almost all of the contributors are gone but I am still here.. Maybe, they had short attention spans or maybe, just maybe, they didnt scare me off... but for whatever reason... they didnt get to me as far as shying away from religion or politics.... we are taking a stand and together we will STAY UNITED...
Song by Twisted Sister... Were not going to take it, were not going to take it anymore...
Here are some of the stupid things that they said about us... she was insane and crazy, she was a racist, etc...
For me, I was afraid of a black man(and this was posted by one of the vilest ones who is still on here spreading her hatred), I had no teeth... we were hillbillies.... Then they wrote articles saying how racist the South was, then they did one about how racist WV was because it chose Hillary over Obama... They even did one saying that MLK wore buttons saying, he hated whitey... BUT yet , no one seemed to think that the article was racist...
I wrote an article about a day at the park and one nutjob attacked me about what kind of jogging outfit I was wearing and to this day, I cant figure out what her beef was with me, other than I wasnt voting for Obama...
Now needless to say, I was not used to this kind of rude treatment and my friend finally couldnt take it and went away, but a couple of us stayed on here... They attacked us because there werent that many of us and back then, we didnt stick together as we do now... this is exactly why, I will not bow down to them( I have seen to many of my friends actually say they were sorry to them and it wasnt their fault, they did not start it for having an opinion, they were the ones being attacked... I thought it will be a cold day in Hell before I back down to them... I have often wondered why, this bunch wasnt kicked off of here.. One did say that he was warned and he felt bad for about 30 seconds.. then his lemmings all got a good laugh from this....But anyone who had anything to do with this woman was a target for them... I couldnt believe it, they actually was threatening me because she was my friend and they were trying to pick my friends for me... They have nerve alright... BUT wherever they are, they didnt win... I dont scare easy...
But I feel that we are much more prepared this time... Glad that you wrote this article Fren...
This was your second and your LAST warning. Yes, I take screen shots. You may want to relay that to FourMore. Leave. You are not welcome here.
Is this how you got bounced off before, by threatening people? I've posted about this before about your cronies (you weren't here), but if you shovel it out, then you gotta take it in kind! Obviously, you can't & all the psychobabble you dish, you outta start listening to yourself & start taking your own advice! OK, outta here for now, but I do pay attention to the HP, so when I see comments directed at me, well...
I've never been "bounced." That is slander.
Personal attacks, threats and slander. That constitutes harassmant. You might want to rethink that advice.
Stop commenting on my article. [Screen shot.]
So um what does that mean, that there is stuff in here that is not true and/or censorable on some reasonable grounds? According to whom? Clearly Fren is viewed as a threat to the far left on here because she is offering some truth, just as the rest of us who still believe in the Constitution and American freedom do.
Also good to know the Gather censors are considered "gods" by the far left here. Apparently they believe they are on their side. Always amusing to see people who claim to be in favor of "free speech" doing their darnedest to squelch it when it's disagreeable to them, and all they can do is vaguely label it "psychobabble." So much for rational discussion and tolerance.
That IS the manna they lay at my feet, Eagle, little do they know. It is that "job well done" pat on the back. It identifies which topics shake their foundation, what subjects hit their Achille's heel. It's my motivator, my windsock, my inspiration to post more turths. The more noise they make, the more blessed I am.

The mentality is laughable, isn't it? I've enjoyed this flag more than any of the others [exhaling on nails, polishing nails on shirt]. A high-five to all conservatives. The fact that they could even take something like this so seriously to heart is entertaining.
Thanks for your return to sanity and reason. Always appreciated. Always.
Chuck says he'd welcome implementing those kinds of recommendations and that he has actually proposed similar ones, but that they are repeatedly rejected by Gather management. So either that's not true and what results from existing meaningless chaos gives Chuck's job a purpose (lol); or, that is true and Gather management sees the meaningless chaos as serving their own agenda (God forbid their users take priority).
Because their mismanaged flagging forces the process to be so unnecessarily unreasonable, that implies Gather management finds some benefit to keeping the chaos going. Life experience proves that unnecessary chaos is almost always deliberate as a means to meet some vague, underlying, shady, and less principled objective. For whatever reason, Gather is getting something it wants by keeping things just the way they are, innocent users be damned.
Right is right ..and wrong is wrong... we deserve the same treatment..
Great to see you back, friend. Missed you. We need all the truth tellers we can get around here!
A pleasure to see you my friend! Thanks for coming by.
My computer was down for 3 days and I just got it back yesterday. So happy to see your name.
Now I'll go up and read :)
I would not trade places on Judgment Day with anyone in this administration who's had a had in this deliberate and conniving of The American People. Unconscionable. I can think of no worse evil, no worse sin.
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. He is my Dad's age, I can most clearly relate. I pray good health and that the best of doctors come to your Dad. God bless.
Health care is already being rationed. Several of my elderly relatives have had problems scheduling surgery and getting the hospitals and surgeons they want. Numerous phone calls need to be made by the patients and the results are not satisfactory. I wonder, too, where the Canadian patients will go for timely, high quality treatment.
I had a doc appt yesterday and discussed a pain issue, asking about what's available. The doc said specific pain patches I'd tried from a friend were best. When I asked for a Rx she looked at me cock-eyed explaining the cost was tremendously high (even with our 'good' private insurance, which we PAY for). The patches were given to me, this woman gave them away to people in huge quantities of boxed reems just trying to reduce her overages. She got them free on Medicaid and Medicad sent so many free to her she couldn't possibly use them all (or didn't even need them). So here we have someone who's paying into the system in real need, who's worked all their life, but can't afford what the government is taking their money to give in wasteful quantities to those who need them so little they're throwing them around like candy. But Obamacare saw no cause to fix that, did they? It's so blatantly unconscionable.
I'm glad your Dad is doing okay. God bless him. Having the love of family is the best of medicines :).
I just heard on the news that only certain time is being given to the GOP in Florida. So they are not even going to get the coverage to get their messages out there... This puts me in the mind of a communist country where only the government has control on what is being shown on tv...
Vickey, I am also dismayed that the news of health care rationing is hushed up. I've heard it from individuals and from health care practitioners, but nothing has been in the news. It is censorship and does feel like communism. I'm not surprised that the Dems are limiting GOP exposure in Florida. With the high population of elderly citizens there, it would be detrimental to the Dems if the truth came out. How do the Dems get away with this?
You know, though, it's been going on for years with other government programs - VA, Medicare and Medicaid - and people have ignored it.
Under Obamacare, all emergency patients will be admitted for observation, then treatment will be reactive rather than proactive. Quality assurance personnel are up in arms and rightfully so.
Even those of us with good health insurance need to be concerned, because the private companies will follow the standards set by the government. In the early 1980s, Medicare implemented DRGs to limit payment. Private insurance companies were right behind them. When Medicare reduced lengths of stay, so did the other companies. It's not a good plan and it is going to cost a fortune.
I went to your comments and found this post. LOL I would love to spotlight it in the Today post but since is is political in nature, I can't.
For the record, I hate the ObamaCare and can't believe it ever passed but then I was shocked he won the election too. I did not vote for him and I did contact my elected officials to vote against ObamaCare but my suggestions seem to have fallen on deaf ears. . . . . .
That's so cool.
