Yes, I typed MEDICAID, not MEDICARE.We are all hopefully aware of what Ryan did to Medicare in his mythical budget that went nowhere: if you are over 55, you get to keep it, if you are younger, you go on vouchers. But are you aware of what he did to MEDICAID in his budget? Â Medicaid, in case you wondered, is the federal program to support health care for low income individuals.
The Ryan budget would have reduced spending on Medicare by 1.4 trillion over the time period of 2013 to 2022, cuts which would have eliminated some 14 million humans from any access to health insurance. Then of course if you add the repeal of Obamacare to that equation-something that both Ryan and Romney strongly favor, you have to drop another 11 million people from health insurance, For a total of 25 million Americans losing health insurance.
But of course Romney would be adding so many high paying jobs to the US economy that all 25million of those people would end up with health insurance, rightie? Â Wrongie.
