Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise arrived today at a New York City airport, after a flying trip to Ohio. They seemed to be carrying their own carry-ons, without a bodyguard or staff person in sight. Has Katie decided to do away with the annoying (and expensive) but ever-useful presence of security people? Commercial planes are already a new experience for Suri, reports Daily Mail, because she has travelled mostly by private jet. Flying with just her mom might be another interesting event in her new life.
Katie lugged a leopard-print blanket—it gets cold on airplanes—and another, smaller blanket, plus a couple of big totes and a notebook. Suri did her share. The six-year-old carried two big, pink bags and an elephant. Okay, the elephant was small and stuffed. She wore shorts and a pink cardigan. Katie Holmes stuck to her usual jeans and a pretty tee under an open shirt, with suede boots.
The trip to Ohio was a visit to Katie's home town, perhaps to see friends and relatives who had not been a part of her life in recent years. Details are sketchy, but the mother and daughter spent some quality time together, shopping. It isn't Disney World, but it must have been fun. Now school looms just around the corner. NYC is full of divorced parents and displaced celebs. Suri should have an easy time making friends.
