Good news for Mayim Bialik: she still has all her fingers -- and will apparently keep them all -- after being injured in a serious car accident in Hollywood on Wednesday.
There was some worry that the former Blossom star would lose one of the fingers on her left hand because of the crash, which reportedly caused "severe lacerations" on the hand. Her car was hit at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea Ave. by a car carrying three Chilean tourists. Sources told TMZ that there were "tons and tons of blood everywhere" and that Bialik's finger was almost severed and "just hanging there."
Bialik was taken to the hospital for treatment, but she reassured fans via Twitter Wednesday evening that she was okay. Admitting her husband was the one doing the typing, she said that she was "in pain but will keep all my fingers." She was clearly in good spirits despite her ordeal, as she went on to plug her taped appearance on The Soup that evening.
Still, a scary day for Mayim Bialik that could have turned out a lot worse. Besides the upset and shock the accident caused her, the 36-year-old mother of two had to be worried about what would happen to her hand. Losing a finger would be horrible for anyone, but think about the additional impact it might have for someone who makes her living on TV.
Bialik currently co-stars on The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon's girlfriend. Thank goodness she's okay and the show's writers won't have to make up some reason that Amy Farrah Fowler suddenly has only nine fingers!
