The man who shot a guard at the Family Research Council headquarters was carrying a Chick-fil-A bag, sources are saying.
The gunman, who was wrestled to the floor, entered the FRC building posing as an intern, police said, and allegedly began arguing with the guard about the FRC's conservative positions.
The Family Research Council, which opposes gay marriage, was designated as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center about two years ago.
This debate has really gotten out of hand. People on both sides of the fence are acting like children, and completely overreacting. Who cares what Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy's opinions are on gay marriage? He's only the CEO of a fast food chain, not a senator or a governor!
Thankfully, no one died in the FRC incident, but it shows how polarized Americans are becoming. And, it's pretty disgraceful to shoot an hourly wage security who is just trying to earn a living.
When the security became suspicious, he asked the younger man where he was heading. That's when the "intern" with the Chick-fil-A bag, described as being in his twenties, opened fire on the guard, striking him with a bullet in the arm.
