The Spice Girls highlighted last night's Olympics closing ceremony, leaving the world to wonder: Will there be a reunion tour in the works? Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm, Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell, and Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton were all looking and sounding great as they took the stage before thousands gathered in the Olympic stadium and millions watching around the world.
The Girls' performance was clearly the highlight of the closing ceremony for many, as they failed to disappoint while performing live versions of two of their biggest hits (were there any others?) from their '90s heyday, "Wannabe" and "Spice Up Your Life." The original "fierce five" performed atop moving English automobiles for much of the two-song concert, with Posh Spice's characteristically short little black dress riding up the thighs of decency much to the delight of male fans everywhere, if not to that of her husband, David Beckham.
While others such as One Direction, George Michael, Russell Brand, Jessie J and The Who also performed as London waved goodbye to one of the most memorable Olympics in recent memory, it was Posh, Scary, Sporty, Ginger, and Baby - the best-selling "girl group" of all-time - who got probably the biggest applause of them all. Even as Ginger did not redux her famous Union Jack mini skirt that Londoners everywhere remember with great fondness, the uniformly favorable reaction to the Spice Girls' performance certainly leaves the lorry door open to a reunion tour and maybe even an album recording.
