That's according to Bill Clinton, who signed the legislation back in 1996.

it's not that hard to figure out why the Romney Campaign came up with this one. It is positioned to take advantage of basic Republican fears on Obama-that he is a socialist who wants to hand out money for nothing. It flows right into the Reagan era "welfare queen" concepts that still resonate with Republican voters.

In reallity. The Obama administration was responding to waiver requests from two REPUBLICAN state governments- Utah and Nevada- in crafting the new waivers. The waivers do NOT change the fact that the welfare to work laws still have time limits on them.

politifact.com gives Romney's accusation a "pants on fire" rating. I'll admit that it's wise to consider the source on this one. you might want to stay away from Fox and the huffington Post. chrstian science monitor has a good article.

Romney is using the Rove playbook - if you are guilty of something, accuse the other guy of being guilty of it. Then it becomes a he said/she said routine where the public loses track of the fact that Romney is guilty and Obama is not.

Now Gingrich is falling into line and reading from the Romney campaign script on thismtopic. There is no surprise there. He's always been willing to exaggerate anything to take down a Dem. Do we rememberbabfew months ago when Romney was basically Satan for Gingrich? I still can.

Conservatives memories are known for being short. Look how soon they forgot Bush and the Reagan tax increases and the Reagan deficit spending. Would that the memories of the left were so short.
