| Campaign Update Today, Maranda Reynolds of Springfield Cannabis Regulation received official certification from Springfield City Clerk Brenda Cirtin that the group's petition to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of cannabis had received more than 2,101 signatures from registered Springfield voters -- the number needed to place this referendum before the City Council on August 27th or, if the council should reject the proposal, before the city's voters at the November election. Show-Me Cannabis Regulation is proud to have inspired the Springfield campaign and helped to raise the money necessary to put the measure before the people. Ultimately, of course, we want to end the prohibition on adult cannabis use at the state and federal levels, but we are happy to help a committed group of local activists change their city's laws for the better where possible. But our work in Springfield is not finished yet. We need to spread the word about the initiative and encourage city residents to contact their City Council members and urge them to vote for the measure. If the council sends it to the voters in November, we will need to promote our message with mailers and possibly a media campaign. However, we cannot do any of that without your financial support. Please donate now if you want to keep the momentum moving in our direction in Springfield! |
