"On The 41st Day"

A bush was burned
on that forty day trip
to seek the sense of a right thing
wrestling temptation
for the sake of salvation
covenant arcs came returning
enlightened? ..not sure
the wiser a cure
stark teachings experience imparted
humble the truth
on a denial deep fool
that a nut can be right; if they practice

I also enjoyed your nutty writing.
Blue is definitely your color.
Thanks for sharing with Gather's Luminous Writers and Artists Featured and tweeted.
I thank Shakespeare for penning his kernels of insight. Jesters often well served their kings well by delivering painful truths under a balm of comedic action; which could also be a literal life saver to blurters.
Thank you for the feature among the Luminous.

Today, though, it finally came to me. This superb image and poem also speak to Global Warming. The US is experiencing the worst drought in centuries. It is supposed to be a result of Global Warming. So we've done our 40 days in the desert, awaiting successful repudiation of our temptations. And it's now day 41, and it's hotter than ever. Something is askew. "enlightened? ..not sure" is simple perfect.
With such a terrible farming season, are we wiser now, 'enlightened'? Shakespeare's fool speaks deep truth. If only we could listen.
Really powerful image and poem, Bill.
Thank you - Thank you :-)
Read from bottom to top provides a very intriguing progression of thought, as well as a punchy cadence.
Tip o' the hat to your poetic eye :-)
Thanks for coming back and reading it again.
