Mitt Romney may have met secretly with David Petraeus in New Hampshire recently to discuss the viability of him joining the Republican ticket as the vice-presidential candidate.
What is your opinion? Do you believe the four-star United States Army general would make a good veep?
Apparently, President Barack Obama told a top fundraiser that he believes Romney might name the Central Intelligence Director as his running mate. Now, there is no official confirmation to this story, so don't overreact to the news.
As the next few weeks drag on, you will hear all sorts of rumors about who's going to fill the VP slot, but you never know what to believe. Romney will probably wait until the last-minute to announce, to let the suspense build. John McCain waited until five days before the convention to choose Sarah Palin.
But, Petraeus would be a canny pick for Romney. Although some believe the 59-year-old former general is a closet liberal, he could have cross-party appeal.
Whatever you think of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, he has impeccable credentials, and has been praised by politicians of all stripes. In fact, the current White House administration once called him a great military strategist. Obama definitely has reason to fear a Romney-Petraeus ticket.
