So, here I am, 34 weeks along and having contractions. This evening they found I was 1cm dilated. NOT good...so they have me on Nifedical XL, twice a day...which I look up and find is a muscle relaxant. Just check out these goody side effects:
Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
- severe constipation and cramps, severe stomach pain or heartburn, coughing up blood
- feeling like you might pass out
- feeling short of breath, swelling in your hands or feet
- fast or pounding heartbeats
- numbness or tingly feeling
- jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
- chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling
Less serious side effects may include:
- headache, dizziness
- drowsiness, tired feeling
- nausea, diarrhea mild constipation or stomach pain
- sleep problems (insomnia)
- mild rash or itching
- joint pain, leg cramps
- warmth, redness, or tingly feeling under your skin; or
- urinating more than usual
So I'm going to take a WILD guess and say that the reason I am up with you at 4:30AM is because of the insomnia, headache, and urinating more than usual. I know you're supposed to pee a lot when you're pregnant but every HOUR? I think not. Oh, and, they gave me a shot of steroids, too. Do you know how much that stuff BURNS?! And they put it in your bum, too (anywhere else and you'd be screaming). NO fun.
Pray for me? I don't know if I can take much more of this.

LOL Good one. I had a friend who married a man who was not LDS. He wore a Tshirt that said "She is LDS. Not me". He joined the church a few years after they were married and has been in callings ever since. LOL
I am sorry you are feeling so miserable and do hope things get better for you. Not sleeping is no fun.
I was pregnant 6 times. We were fortunate enough to have two beautiful healthy baby girls. We lost 4 and that was the hardest thing for me. Now we have 4 Grand-kids and I am loving being a "Nana".

I can't imagine losing a baby, either. I was pregnant twice, and delivered both times - in fact, neither baby was ready to leave. I never went in to labor with my first, my daughter - she was a breech baby anyway, so a section was scheduled. We were going to try for natural with my son - eight years later - but he decided he liked it fine where he was and I never went in to labor, so I had another section. I call the scar my "smiley" belly - because of being happy over having them.
I was in labor for 27 hours with Victoria. Hard labor too. I had total natural delivery. No pain meds. I wanted it that way.
I had Tina without pain meds too but was only in labor for 21 hours with her. Both girls was late. It is strange but they were both due on Christmas day. Tina was born the 29th and Victoria was not born until Jan 4th.
The 4 we lost was due in July.
I like the "smiley" comment. That is so cool.
They say you forget the pain of childbirth! That is a lie. A man must have made that comment. You never forget it. It is worth it but you don't forget.
I would love to adopt a baby but with my health, nobody would ever let me adopt their child. :(
Both of our daughters were different when I was pregnant. Tina was rambunctious and Victoria was more gentle ( for lack of a better word) LOL
Tina would kick her father every time he got close to me. LOL
My second child labor was after I'd eaten a Mexican pizza, so I didn't recognize that labor for a while either. She was born in the car on the way to the hospital.
So, don't be afraid to go to the hospital for fear of being embarrassed. I had two children with less pain that I've had with gas. Drugs are there if you need them but you may not need them.
