Chalmers Johnson was not as well known as Gore Vidal, but he equaled him in his understanding of the backgrounds of many problems facing the United States.
Chalmers Johnson, in my mind, was one of the greats. Interestingly, I knew a Chalmers Johnson, no relation as far as I know, who was also a really great man. He was one of the first people to stand up and say that the California loyalty oath was unconstitutional. He lost his teaching job and was hounded out of his former social groups, but he never gave in. Many years later the California Supreme Court ruled that Chalmers was correct. It was too late to do anything more for Chalmers other than to prove him correct.
May I inquire what the SCOTUS ruled was unconstitutional? I can't imagine it was the declaration of separation from treasonous organizations seeking to overthrow the US government?!?! Seems constitutional to protect the constitution, written into the oath of offices...
