Daniel Agger moving to Manchester City?

It has been reported in today's Transfer Rumours And Gossip columns that Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is due to make a move to Manchester City.

Daniel Agger was one of only a few highlights for Liverpool last season.  The Danish centre back put in some outstanding displays and Liverpool would surely have had a far more torrid season if it were not for his rock solid defensive displays.

Manchester City have already had one bid rejected from Liverpool.  City have now returned with an improved £13 million bid, and Daniel Agger has told Liverpool that he wants to leave the club.  This declaration has raised interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid too.  However, it is thought that Daniel Agger would prefer to remain in England and ideally in the North West, making Manchester City the most likely destination for the player.  It is thought that City are looking to shift Kolo Toure, so perhaps a swap deal may occur?

Whatever happens, Liverpool will need to sign someone extremely special if they are to maintain the kind of defensive attributes that Daniel Agger gave them.  He is a truelly brilliant centre back and losing him will be a huge blow for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool.
