Welcome to Norma’s Café on this Friday, August 3rd. It is my middle daughter’s 14th wedding anniversary. I was still working then and what a busy time it was. I only took off the day before the wedding. I had made my mother-of-the-bride dress for the wedding as I couldn’t stand those standard mother-of-the- bride dresses that come in every size and color. It was a deep raspberry color and very pretty.. I don’t know if I have a picture that I can post, but if I find one I will add it to the post. Happy Anniversary to my daughter Tracy and hubby Paul.
It is going to be a stinker today between 96-99 and humid. We didn’t get even a dribble of rain yesterday . So much for the 20% chance. Ha Ha. My plans today are to meet my GF at the mall to walk this morning and then have lunch at the HyVee all you can eat salad buffet. Our supermarket has an good deli and usually the buffet is 6.99 but today it is only 4.99. Since I have to go there anyway for a prescription it works out fine. I love to be able to get such a big variety including red raspberries and blueberries. They are so expensive to buy in the produce department and this way I can still have them as part of my meal. If you haven’t guessed, Sadie and her GF always take advantage of specials and two-for-one meals if we can find then on days we eat out. It is a big help for retirees who aren’t rich. What??? You thought I was rich? Now I’m laughing.
I didn’t have good news at the eye doctor yesterday. The pressure was back up in both eyes. He did comprehensive tests and I had to be dilated twice with different drops. The verdict is, I now am on two different kinds of drops, one morning and noon, the other at bedtime. He has made me an appointment with an eye surgeon in Cedar Rapids for a consultation to have the developing cataracts taken off as he feels they are contributing to the build-up in pressure. I go for that August 16.and if Medicare approves the cataract surgery will probably have the left eye done soon after approval comes in as the pressure is much higher in that eye. Not what I was hoping to hear but we deal with what we have to .
The coffee is hot and fresh. And, of course I have hot tea and all kinds of cold drinks in my virtual refrigerator. Won’t you have a seat in my kitchen and tell me what you would like to drink?

Now that I have served you, what are your plans for the day? Do you have anything exciting going on this weekend? Don’t forget a message for Donald and Norma and Tracy.

I am sorry that the visit with the eye doctor did not go as hoped. I am hoping that if you have to have the surgery, you will recover quickly!
Besides getting a nap in sometime today, I will be spending the day with my youngest. Now that he has made Eagle, we have to plan the ceremony. We have a date picked out for October. We need to start a guest list, design invitations and programs, decide on which particular ceremony and who he will ask for which part of the program....decorations, food, etc. Lots of planning to get moving on!
This weekend is a lot of catch-up from having been gone last weekend and busy all week. My ToDo list is like Barbara's rising bread dough, although with the dough there's an end in sight.
So glad your doctor is keeping close watch on your eyes. Praying things will go well for you.
Always praying for Norma, Donald and Tracy. May God bless them.
I am ahead this morning with three cups of coffee already, so I'll just settle for this nice chat.
Have a great weekend.

i am sending an envelope with cards in it for tracy, norma, and donald......hope to mail that later today...
