One of films' most successful horror franchises has become an almost annual event. The franchise in question has yielded Paranormal Activity 4. The movie's set to release its third sequel right around Halloween, 2012.
A few years back, the low-budgeted movie proved that what you couldn't see was a lot scarier than what you could. The original film terrified millions of movie audiences without shedding a single drop of blood, cutting off any body parts or engaging in gratuitous sex.
The premise was simple. Take a hero, heroine or both; put them in danger from an unseen force; add in some spooky happenings; record it all with a camera and let the audience's imagination go wild. It worked like a charm and movie goers have kept coming back every year to catch the next installment.
While the actual plot of the newest film hasn't been uncovered, the trailer refers back to the second film. In it, the original film's heroine Katie gets possessed and kills her sister as well as her family; all but the baby boy with whom Katie disappears. In Paranormal Activity 4, the shadow of a woman is seen with a little boy. It could be Katie ready to wreak havoc on another unsuspecting family.
Halloween is the perfect time to release the newest franchise installment. Audiences seem to love the natural connection, flocking to spend money for a good scare.
