Josh Duggar of 19 Kids & Counting—Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's oldest child—has come out in support of Chik-fil-A in the midst of the firestorm movement to boycott the business.
According to a report from RadarOnline, a day of support for the restaurant was held today, August 1st, at the urging of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. Josh Duggar weighed in on his feelings about the event.
"I'm joining @GovMikeHuckabee & @RickSantorum to support @ChickFilA on Aug 1. Stand with us! #ChickFilA," Josh wrote.
Duggar is
quick to point out, however, that he doesn't discriminate against anyone.
"I treat everyone with honor, dignity & respect—regardless of belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender & I stand with #ChickFilA!" he tweeted earlier.
Having been raised in the 19 Kids & Counting family of evangelicals, it's refreshing to hear Josh Duggar say he doesn't discriminate. While he takes the Bible on its word about marriage being between one man and one woman, he still acknowledges it's wrong to treat people unkindly because they believe something different.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar may have brought up Josh Duggar and his siblings to follow the Bible, but they very clearly taught him that it's not their place to pass judgement on others. Some will say Josh Duggar is doing exactly that by upholding Chik-fil-A's platform. At least he's not being deliberately cruel in doing so.
Do you find Josh Duggar's stand to be a bit more acceptable than that of those who treat gays and lesbians unkindly, or do you think he's on equal footing with the CEO of Chik-fil-A?
