The NY Knicks roster will look a bit different from what fans or the front office expected as they begin their preparation for the upcoming NBA season. Depth is now a concern and the team must find some chemistry during training camp if they want to compete for a top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The depth concern is something the front office can still fix with some subtle additions this summer and the latest rumor from Bleacher Report has forward Keith Benson as a possibility. The youngster was drafted last year by the Atlanta Hawks, but he was eventually waived, but this summer he showed the skills he flashed in college and that could earn him a contract for the upcoming basketball season.
Benson averaged over 13 points and six rebounds in the Summer league, but his defense was most impressive as he averaged over two blocked shots per game. The biggest concern is his weight as he has just 220 pounds on his 6'11" frame and that caused him problems last year, but a move to forward is likely and the NY Knicks could make a wise move by adding the former Summit League Player of the Year.
Though this is not the high-profile move fans would want, it is necessary to have depth to compete in the NBA and adding a big man who can play multiple positions could help this team make the playoffs again this season.
