Mitt Romney saying that Jerusalem needs to be the Capitol of Israel:
He has not been as stridently pro Israeli as some American Republicans, but it was not helpful, his clear siding with Israel, at a time when negotiation between Palestine and Israel have been delayed for years for no apparent reason. And then he made it worse, saying that
"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality," the Republican presidential candidate told about 40 wealthy donors who breakfasted around a U-shaped table at the luxurious King David Hotel. ""And as I come here and I look out over this city and consider the accomplishments of the people of this nation, I recognize the power of at least culture and a few other things," Romney said, citing an innovative business climate, the Jewish history of thriving in difficult circumstances and the "hand of providence.".....
HOLY toledo, he actually said that stuff? No wonder the Palestinians called him racist. Look Mitt, Israel OWNS Israel, and it can do what it wants with the land. The Palestinians "own" a narrow strip of land along the mediterranean shore we call "Gaza" which for much of its existence has been deprived of basic access to building materials through Israel. The West Bank of Palestine is land locked, and has no control over its borders, and is honeycombed by Israeli illegal settlements and criss crossed by Israeli roads that Palestinians cannot drive on. Â And you think it's the "hand of providence" that allowed Israelis to make money- and by the same token, God is somehow punishing the Palestinians by making sure that they are poor? Hey, money is the ultimate gauge of divine favor, right? It goes for the American lower classes too. If you are poor, God wants you to be poor.
Really, it was not the "Holy Land" that Mitt was visiting, because in his religion the "Holy Land" should be the area in upstate New York where the angel "Moroni" told Joseph Smith where to find some golden tablets which conveniently no other living person was ever allowed to look at. Â But I suppose that is a cheap shot for me to make.
Anyway, I would not want to be a Palestinian. Not with people like Mitt in the world, who are casually happy to imply that they are a lazy and culture-less pack of unwashed vermin.
