On tonight's brand new episode of Teen Mom, fans will get a rare, intimate look at Amber Portwood before prison. She will reveal how hard it is for her to be out of rehab and the tumultuous relationship between her and Gary Shirley will be revealed.
However, there is still one question on most fans minds and that is, "Why did Amber pick prison in the first place?" Certainly, it had to be a last resort effort right? Someone would have to literally be at their wit's end to choose being locked up in a cold prison cell over being confined to the comforts of their home.

Luckily, Amber Portwood recently revealed why she chose a life behind bars saying, "I was very depressed, all alone, all bitter at everybody. I felt like that wasn't the life I wanted to live, I felt like I'd rather do my time, and get it over with, and make the best out of the situation that's been handed to me."
Say what you will about the troubled Teen Mom, but that is a rather mature response. It isn't often that people who are facing troubles are willing to take responsibilities for their actions, but Amber most certainly did. While she may not be the best role model for young girls, she teaches girls that actions have consequences and it is how you handle them that will determine the outcome.
Although she is serving a five-year sentence, she is expected to be out in a little over two-years which is good news for her and her daughter, Leah, who at that time will be close to turning six.
Do you think prison was a good choice for Amber?
