Ok midnite was the family dog, yet my son loved him alot, and always wanted me to ship him to where he was station,,
So when he died he took it hard, one because he wasn't here when it happen. And two he never got a chance to say goodbye.
When the vet put him down they gave us condolence paw print that was put into a tarata clay, which I will paint and bake.
I was thinking,, about making a shadow box for the son, you know with his picture and the paw print and one of his name tags,, So you all think it too much and unpractical for a young man of his age, (22 in feb)
I want to make one for our wall also, which the hubby thinks that a cool idea, yet he disagrees for the son. He lives in an apartment right now with friends. I think he would be ok with it,, yet hubby think it be to unconventional,
Any opinions be nice,, ask you kids of that age if you have any,,
thanks

When it comes to such "heartrendering" things as this, it's a wonderful memorial and something he can always have........to cherish!
We had our Maddie Moo cremated and bought a gorgeous urn, with dogs/puppies running in a circle around the urn....on the inside, at the bottom, is a doggie bone. It's a gorgeous urn, and I don't regret spending the amount of money we did on it, as Maddie is home with us, watching over us in our entertainment center, with her collar around the lid, and two Willow Tree angels, one holding a brown dog (Maddie was a Chocolate Lab)......it's a pretty neat memorial to our beloved doggie and has helped us tremendously in our griefwork.
I think it would be a great way for you to work through your grief by making these wonderful memorials, Stef.
