A video on YouTube shows a startling, natural optical illusion as heavy clouds roll over Seattle's Space Needle. In the blink of an eye, the tower transforms from an iconic landmark into a what looks like a classic UFO sighting. Check it out!
The video shows a high altitude angle of the Space Needle as morning fog roils in from the ocean. Slowly, the fog drifts to a level where only the top of the tower, the part that is intentionally designed to look like a flying saucer, is visible.

The result of the illusion turns out to be an amazing likeness to some classic UFO sightings of the past.
Aside from the magical effect, it does point out another fact. It's not hard to understand why tricks of the eye and the right lighting conditions, along with some help from a cooperative sky, can convince some people they are looking at an unidentified flying object.
