I can't believe that July is almost over, and school is about to start. Dance starts next Wednesday for the new season. We still haven't settled Angela's classes...
So, what are we celebrating today.....
1). Milk Chocolate Day: Are you a chocoholic like me? Then today's holiday is for you! It's the day to celebrate milk chocolate (I prefer dark though). Now, I told Angela about this one and she asked about being dyslexic about it (since she is)....and said she'd celebrate chocolate milk day. LOL
2). National Dance Day: Oh, Angela has been waiting for this one. National Dance Day is an annual event and "grassroots initiative to encourage the nation, young and old, to move!" in the United States. This event occurs annually on the last Saturday of July, and a resolution was passed through congress. Nigel Lythgoe started this holiday back in 2010.
3). National Day of the Cowboy: This holiday is celebrating its 8th year, and is always celebrated the last Saturday of the month. There is also a website for this holiday. National Day of the Cowboy celebrates the American Cowboy and culture. Oh, I do like cowboys!!!!
4). Buffalo Soldiers Day: In 1992 the U.S. Congress passed a law designating July 28 as Buffalo Soldiers Day in the United States. This day commemorates the formation on that date in 1866 of the first regular Army regiments comprising African-American soldiers. The nickname Buffalo Soldiers was given by the Native American tribes to what was called the "Negro Calvary."
5). Paddle for Perthes Disease Awareness Day: From the facebook page: Being a disease of the hips, it seems most appropriate to create awareness without the use of the legs. What better way to show your support than to spend the day paddling your row boat, canoe, kayak, or raft while enjoying the outdoors!
If you know of any other holidays being celebrated today, just post them below.
