When Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt split up, tabloid speculation claimed one of the causes of the divorce was that he wanted kids and she didn't. A few months later, in her post-divorce Vanity Fair "pity party" interview, she said that was BS and she definitely wanted a family. But has she changed her mind?
According to Grazia (via the Belfast Telegraph), Jennifer is focusing on her relationship with Justin Theroux instead of motherhood.
"Quite simply, becoming a mother just doesn't seem as important to Jen as it once was. Her main priority is her relationship with Justin," a "source" tells the mag. "Justin was open from the start that he wasn't looking to start a family anytime soon and far from being a dealbreaker, which it once would have been, Jen has realized that she's OK with that. Jennifer is not ruling motherhood out altogether, but right now she is focused on her relationship with Justin. She may re-evaluate down the line -- but for now she is happy with her life the way it is and seems to have given up on the notion that having a child will make her life complete."
So when these two break up, will it suddenly become Justin's fault that Jennifer still doesn't have children? She's given so many interviews over the years saying she does want a family, so the tabloids might use this to put the blame on him. But Grazia claims that it isn't just Justin who's made Jennifer change her mind -- her child-free friends, such as Chelsea Handler and Ellen DeGeneres, have also convinced the Emmy winner that she doesn't need kids to be fulfilled.
"Other new friends, such as Ellen DeGeneres, also don't have children and they have helped her realize that kids aren't necessarily the only answer to a happy life. ... For years Jen chased after this dream hoping to get married again and have a baby. But she's realized that actually her life is pretty perfect as it is. She's found true love, she and Justin are wealthy enough to do whatever they want," Grazia's snitch says.
Early last year, Jennifer gave an interview to People in which she was still saying she wanted a family; by the fall she had changed her tune and was claiming that "if it's meant to be, it's meant to be," which doesn't seem like something someone in her 40's who definitely wants biological kids would say. At this point, given her age and her lifestyle, she probably doesn't want children, which is totally her prerogative. If she did, she's had plenty of opportunity over the years to have or adopt them, but she seems happy just going on vacation and drinking margaritas, and actions speak louder than words.
