Bring Them Home
We bid farewell to soldiers
Dressed in army green and brown
And know them each and every one
They come from our hometown
Mothers daughters, sisters, wives
Husbands, fathers, sons
Eyes fill with tears, good-byes are said
To these our dear loved ones
Hearts full of mixed emotions
Of doubt, despair, and pride
We’d hoped this wouldn’t happen
Longed to keep them at our side
Some troops will serve here in the states
And not their weapons wield
We pray that none will have to die
Upon the battle field
We ask for leaders round the world
To talk of ways to mend
The problems in our world today
So threats of war will end
Never underestimate
The power of our prayer
To bring our loved ones home again
Let peace reign everywhere
