Check this out. As this writer points out, all of those politicians who have created non-binding resolutions saying that the state doesn't agree with Obamacare don't mean much. But Oklahoma is proposing something entirely different - words with teeth.
Â
The bill was proposed by State Representative Mike Ritze.
Ritze doesn’t just call ObamaCare unconstitutional; his bill will criminalize any U.S. government agent who tries to enforce Obama’s brand of healthcare socialism in the state of Oklahoma:
Â
“Any official, agent, or employee of the United States government or any employee of a corporation providing services to the United States government that enforces or attempts to enforce an act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the government of the United States in violation of this act shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction must be punished by a fine not exceeding Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or a term of imprisonment not exceeding five (5) years, or both.
Â
Any public officer or employee of the State of Oklahoma that enforces or attempts to enforce an act, order, law, statute, rule, or regulation of the government of the United States in violation of this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding two (2) years, or by a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or both such fine and imprisonment.â€
Â
It remains to be seen if this bill will pass the House and be signed into law by the Governor, but it’s looking fairly positive. Both the Oklahoma Attorney General and the Governor have voiced opinions consistent with Ritze’s move. But remember what happened when Texas tried to nullify the TSA with H.B. 1937. All it took for the bill to be pulled from the floor was a letter from the DOJ threatening to create a “no-fly zone†over Texas. And that was just about the TSA. Think of the consequences in Oklahoma or any other state if it decides to criminalize federal agents for enforcing ObamaCare. Are the Feds going to threaten to shut down all hospitals? I know that sounds ridiculous, but so does mandating a “no-fly zone.â€
Â
Ritze’s bill is the kind of gutsy move that we need to be seeing all over the country. People need to be outraged. Things will only change when the people and those that represent us in government choose not to be afraid of what the Leviathan state will do if we tell them, “No.â€

You go, Oklahoma! That's what all of our states need to do!
Â
I always thought that Texas should have called the DOJ's bluff about the "no fly zone". Texas could survive without contact from the rest of the country longer than the country could survive without Texas.
Â
I hope the other Oklahoma politicians have as much guts as Ritze. I hope Oklahoma stands its ground on this one. And I hope other states follow in their footsteps.
Â
This is why our local and state elections mean as much or more than the national ones. It's why it was important that conservatives gained ground in 2008 and 2010 in those local races, and why it remains important for 2012. If the idiots in DC don't understand that their power is supposed to be limited, it's time for the states to teach them.

What it does do, though, is point out that many states are getting fed up with the feds trying to run everything.
It would be nice if the rest of the nation would look at California and say, "Enough is enough, we don't want to be like those idiots!"
