Justin Bieber got slapped with a speeding ticket after he tried to outrun a horde of paparazzi on a California highway a couple of weeks ago, but he is fighting back. Not against the police, but against the idiot photographers who were driving just as reckless as he was. Police and witnesses saw at least one other car driving erratically, but the person took off before a new chase could begin.
Justin and his passenger managed to get the license plate of the other car and filed a police report. Now, the California Highway Patrol has turned the case over to the prosecuting attorney for review. If the attorney feels there is enough to charge the paparazzo, the case will move forward. A spokesperson for the city attorney in Los Angeles says, "Our prosecutors are taking a look at what's been filed by the CHP."
If charges are pursued, the paparazzo will be the first to be prosecuted under a law that was passed in 2010. The law forbids paparazzi or anybody else from driving recklessly in an attempt to get a picture. The law seems a little redundant, but apparently it is necessary in the Hollywood area.
Hopefully, this will send a clear message to the aggressive paparazzi. Do not risk the lives of unsuspecting, innocent travellers because you want to take a blurry picture of a celebrity in a car. It is just stupid. There are literally thousands of pictures of Justin Bieber. Does one more really warrant an aggressive, high-speed chase?
