More than ever, the Pretty Little Liars girls are determined to find out who has been tormenting them in season three. On "The Remains of the A," they finally have a plan -- kind of. Hanna (Ashley Benson) replaces Garrett's note on his comatose mother with a fake note telling the recipient to meet at the organ in the church. But, of course, nothing is ever as easy as leaving a note.
What is Ezra lying about?
In the newest PLL mystery, Aria (Lucy Hale) randomly looks in Ezra's (Ian Harding) sock drawer and finds something unexpected: loads of money. She considers that it might be the $50,000 reward money from Jason (Drew Van Acker), but that just seems unlikely.
So she does what any sensible girlfriend would do and asks. Ezra claims he sold a car his grandfather left him, but his face suggests otherwise. Looks like lover boy has a mystery of his own.
Who helped Emily the night she blacked out?
Emily (Shay Mitchell) is still putting together the pieces of Pretty Little Liars "It Happened that Night," and her recovered coat from last week is the latest clue. Turns out the person who dropped the coat at the rummage sale came from the corner of Riverside and State St., where there's a diner that Emily suddenly remembers.
She also remembers a maze with a path traced on a piece of paper, clutching a guy's hand, and seeing a tattoo on his wrist. These clues get even stranger when she sees Holden -- remember him? Aria's old friend? -- and he has that tattoo, which is really a stamp from a party. He bizarrely says that the stamp is from some party that Maya used to go to too, but then the issue is dropped, at least for now.
Who does Hanna see at church?
Hanna isn't the best of liars, but she's determined to find out who Garrett (Yani Gellman) was trying to contact, even when she realizes there's a church party that same night. So, the plan changes. She wants to hide and see who shows up. But even that isn't so easy, what with her pretending Toby (Keegan Allen) is her date, and her mom realizing she likes a pastor -- which is completely random.
Finally Hanna sneaks away, and who shows up but the local detective Darren Wilden (Bryce Johnson). He claims the nurse found the note and gave it to Wilden, but can PLL fans really trust him? Not really. After all, Garrett could think Darren is on his side, and he was trying to get him proof that he was innocent. Alas, Hanna learns nothing, but she is threatened, as Darren says that Mrs. Marin knows how to solve problems and Hanna just knows how to create them. Creepy much?
Who is April Rose?
Spencer (Troian Bellisario) suddenly has decided she can trust Jason. Apparently it must be a random sisterly/brotherly bond, because she asks him if he's ever heard of the girl that Garrett mentioned in his note. Jason doesn't think it's one of the girls his club used to film, but he does end up helping Spencer against the wishes of Mr. Hastings.
In fact, Jason randomly discovers that April Rose actually refers to an antique store. It's at that store that Spencer sees an ankle bracelet that she knows was Alison's, because her "best friend" never once took it off, claiming a "friend" gave it to her. Thinking this is the proof, Jason turns it in, claiming it came from an anonymous source.
But Mr. Hastings know that it was Jason and Spencer who found it, and he also knows it exonerates Garrett as Alison's killer. That's because it has a trace amount of blood on it: Alison's and someone else's. Spencer is crazy upset that Garrett is now free. But why should this surprise her? Garrett left a note about "proof," and that proof was exactly what he needed to walk free. There's nothing shocking about that.
But Spencer is beside herself, tired of not knowing who has been tormenting and ruining her life. Because, as A confirms, Garrett is most definitely not Alison's killer.
What did you think of Pretty Little Liars "The Remains of the A"? Did you think the ending was so unlike PLL in how anti-climatic it was?
