Most of the top NBA free agents have already signed new deals for the upcoming basketball season, but teams still have needs and plenty of good role players are still available.
The latest rumor from NESN.com has the Boston Celtics as one of four teams looking to add center Darko Milicic. The 27-year-old was recently amnestied by the Minnesota Timberwolves and though he hasn't produced like most experts predicted, he would still give the Celtics some depth on their bench and some insurance against injury to Kevin Garnett.
The 27-year-old averaged just 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, but the seven-footer played just 16 minutes per night. Milicic has averaged 6 points and four rebounds in his career, but he has produced some big games when playing more than 25 minutes of action.
The NBA off-season is closing quickly with the start of Summer Leagues, but teams like the Celtics need role players and Milicic would give the team some depth in the front-court and a player that could still play some good minutes as Boston looks to challenge Miami in the Eastern Conference next season.
