Prince Harry usually grabs a cab, but this weekend he and a buddy piled into a rickshaw—London style, not Shanghai—and his bodyguard barely hopped aboard in time. The prince had been having dinner out with friends at a Mexican restaurant called La Bodega Negra, and when they all stepped back up (bodega means cellar) to the street, a cold London rain was falling, reports Daily Mail. Harry saw the pedicab affair go by, and he jumped in back, escaping t
he downpour. So did a chum and a startled protection officer.
The bicycle-propelled vehicle looked like a king-sized version of the child-hauling, three-wheeled cart parents pull behind their own bicycles while taking a ride. Another bodyguard took his own rickshaw directly behind the first. No doubt that's a good vantage point for watching for evildoers.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry had quite a good time, laughing and calling out from beneath the shielding plastic. No word on how much tequila and/or cerveza the prince might have downed. The officer gave directions to the driver, who had only a jacket and cap to protect himself from the rain.
The party-loving prince has been riding in some far fancier vehicles recently, what with the open carriage rides during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. And at work, he still favors helicopters. But to get a guy in out of the rain, you can't beat a handy rickshaw.
