She was French in the war movie Reunion in France, 1942.

 

Joan Crawford, John Wayne, and Phillip Dorn!

It's a story about a woman who suspects her well-heeled lover (Dorn) has Nazi connections as she aids a downed American flyer (Wayne).

She saves John Wayne and then finds out her lover is a part of the French Resistance and is actually sabotaging the German's arms.

She becomes a symbol of France, starting out frivolous and spoiled and ending up brave and sacrificing for the war effort of Paris! Woo-hoo Joan!
