NBA trade rumors from the Cleveland Cavaliers have Anderson Varejao available as the team tries to clear salary cap space to bring on Luis Scola. According to Marc Stein, the team has been listening to trade pitches about Varejao since the draft and now the team might be even more willing to part with him.
It is pretty clear that a lateral move of Varejao for Scola would be to improve the offense, but it would likely hurt the team on the defensive end of the court. The team must also have another idea on how to come up with rebounds though, because Varejao is the best rebounder on the current Cleveland roster.
Scola could come cheap if the Cavaliers can get a winning bid in before Sunday (he got released by the Houston Rockets). That might be another route for the Cavs to save some money, but they won't be alone in their pursuit of Scola, because teams like Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are also interested in his services.
Another team would be stealing Varejao if Cleveland is just looking to do a salary dump because he is straight-up energy off the bench. He is the type of player that any franchise would want, so some fans in Cleveland might find this news distressing.
Do you think that the NBA trade rumors about the Cleveland Cavaliers shipping out Anderson Varejao are a good idea for the team? If Luis Scola is this good, why didn't another franchise simply try harder to trade for him?
