Challenge:
Write in any form you desire about birds.
One day when I was 12 my mother brought home a hanging cage with a little blue parakeet inside. I named the bird Toby. I took care of feeding, watering and cleaning his cage since no one else seemed inspired to do so, this lead to Toby and I getting very close. Soon he would stand on my finger and eventually come out of his cage. Then he moved to my shoulder and would burble in my ear. He would give me little nips with his beak and he loved it when I was eating lunch he would fly over to my shoulder and take bites of my sandwich. He was on my shoulder one day when my wicked older sister decided to come in the house by the front door. This was a bad idea because the screen door always was hard to open and made a terrible racket. Toby flew off my shoulder and when my sister saw him she opened the front door even further and Toby flew out. That was the last time I saw him even though I left his cage with food and water on the front porch for a week, I had to decide that he was better off in the wild and didn’t want to be caged again.
