In a CBS News interview with Charlie Rose, President Barack Obama said, "The mistake of my first term - couple of years - was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right. And that's important, but, you know, the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times."
There is no doubt that Americans have faced incredibly tough times these past four years since they voted for "Hope and Change." Do you think that Obama's biggest mistake is failing to relate the story to the people?
He pledged to do a better job his next term in being out among the people and out of Washington. Will voters give him the opportunity? It seems pretty likely at this point even though Mitt Romney and the Republicans are campaigning hard to make sure the President will not get another four years.
Barack Obama's plan is to explain and inspire the people he leads. Will this be enough to help improve the country? It could be. Words have amazing power, and perhaps the right ones really can change things. Of course, that is what people hoped four years ago.
The video below gives more details about the interview and Obama's biggest mistake.
