Whew, it's been a crazy past 3 weeks since I started not only a new job but also moved closer to my new job. I work with Special Needs kids and love it! The kids I work with are in Kindergarten and I'm quickly learning a new teaching approach that focuses on behavior modification since traditional teaching doesn't work. I believe kids with Autism, Aspergers, ADHD and Learning 'disabilities' really just think differently. Our society is rigid on what's 'right' and normal. We isolate those outside the norm or say that only specific traits are desirable. My brother has a LD and he's a genius when it comes to carpentry, mechanics (highest score in his class!) and 'guy stuff' (tools and what not). When it comes to math and English...he's not as strong in those areas. I digress.
My new apartment is coming along nicely, but slowly as well. I've been browsing for things to decorate with and there are some things I know I need/want, but just can't find or need to save up the money for. Topping my list are;
- Microwave Cart (for monster microwave OR smaller new microwave)
- Coffee Table
- Another bookshelf for craft room
- Chair (?) for craft room
- Random decor
- Photo Frames
- Carpeting (?)
I plan on tackling a lot of work on my apartment this weekend. I'm also really hoping my coupon ($10 off my purchase) to Bed Bath and Beyond comes soon. I have a massive list of projects to tackle and I have at least a year to do it, but no time like the present! I'll be posting more photos of my new place (all mine, mwahhh) as I complete more stuff :)

You will be an excellent teacher since you truly understand that LDs need to learn differently.
My son has a friend who has Asperger's. It is the first time I am dealing with something like that. He is 16 and Trevor met him in Freshman year at H.S. Since then he has moved to a school closer to his home. A school with a better program for him. He is a very nice boy, a bit strange to deal with. I am proud of my son for befriending him. My son has a habit of friending people who are so different - either Asperger's OR a different nationality or race - he doesn't care. Everyone is equal to him. He is learning tolerance in a big way.
Anyway, I am happy for you. Seems like you are dealing well with your new situation. Good 4 U.
it'll be good. glad your enjoying your new place,
stay happy!
(not many people can say they love theirs)
congrats, and good luck.
the future is yours
