Word has it that Obama was supposed to be at the same event, but he stood them up.

Mitt Romney Reacts to Being Booed at NAACP Event
Â
Wednesday morning, Mitt Romney spoke at an NAACP event and drew boos from the crowd when he mentioned repealing ObamaCare. He joined Neil Cavuto to comment on the harsh response, saying that he wasn’t surprised by the reaction.
“I am going to give the same message to the NAACP that I give across the country which is that ObamaCare is killing jobs, and if jobs is the priority, then we’re going to have to replace ObamaCare with something that actually holds down health care costs,†he said.

Have you ever noticed that most Republicans have far more class than most Democrats?
Â
Isn't it great that Romney has the same message no matter to which group he's speaking? It's refreshing to not have someone whose message is for all Americans all the time, rather than the Divider-in-Chief whose stories change depending upon who is in his "royal presence".

Romney displayed courage and exemplified leadeship in his NAACP speech. This was a refreshing moment. I don't expect it to change many minds, but it does show those who've forgotten what a real American leader is, what a real American leader is and should be :).
That's highly debatable. Considering the way state GOP officials and operatives across the country (usually with the help and/or blessing of the RNC) have blatantly broken their own rules, shamlessly stooped to lying, cheating, and stealing, resorted to all manner of thuggery and intimidation, in order to marginalize and disenfranchise Ron Paul supporters and the duly-selected Paul delegates, all of whom have operated entirely within the rules which have been established and observed for centuries.
Class? I don't think so.
ObamaCare is killing jobs, and if jobs is the priority, then we’re going to have to replace ObamaCare with something that actually holds down health care costs"
That sentence reveals a lot more than Romney intended or even understands, apparently.
For one thing, the only just and legitimate priority of government is the protection of the rights of the citizens. "Jobs" is something that happens naturally when people are secure in their rights; it's not something that is brought forth by the proactive scheming and meddling of the political class.
Government does not, and cannot, "create jobs." But they can sure as hell destroy them, and do destroy them -- especially when they enact policies aimed at "creating" them.
Moreover, "holding down healthcare costs" is not a legitimate or viable duty or obligation of government.
If the government would simply protect all people in their intrinsic, inalienable rights, and refrain from sabotaging the smooth functioning of free markets, then healthcare costs -- as well as costs and prices of all goods and services -- would be automatically established at the equilibrium point where everyone who is willing to produce or sell at that price, would be matched with someone who is willing to buy at that price.
The structure of prices and production would be established so that all labor, capital, and time would be devoted to satisfying the most urgent demands of the greatest number.
Romney has proven over his political career that he either does not possess a sound understanding of economic principles, or else he just doesn't care, and is only interested in political expediency and/or supply cake for the interested rent-seekers whom he favors for one reason or another.
Isn't it great that Romney has the same message no matter to which group he's speaking?
You gotta be kidding me. It's hard for me to imagine someone more committed to sheer political expediency than Mitt Romney. The man has a different set of "convictions" and a different political philosophy, depending on which crowd he happens to be addressing at the time.
The only reason he criticized Obamacare in front of the NAACP is because he's at least smart enough to understand that not sabotaging his already-tenuous relationship with the "conservative base" must take precedence over pandering to Obama's well-established base, and that the cameras are rolling all the time.
No matter who is in the crowd in front of him at a given time, he is pandering to a wider audience. He knows he can't get away with too much blatant flip-flopping and hypocrisy; he can't overplay his hand.
Romney's message is one that includes all Americans.
Obama's divides the country and always has.
For one thing, I've seen old videos that would suggest that Romney was skilled and knowledgeable at utilizing the web of regulatory and tax code interventionism to secure special privileges and advantages for selfish interested rent-seekers, and was apparently sought after for the benefits to gained by such knowledge. Hardly a ringing endorsement for someone who purports to be the limited government/free market-friendly alternative to the meddlesome interventionism of Obama.
And at any rate, proficiency in the private sector does not necessarily translate into sound economic understanding; and it certainly doesn't necessarily translate into the kind of moral convictions that must compliment economic understanding for a person to have the kind of personal/philosophical make-up that this country is in dire need of to occupy the White House (as well as the majority of seats in Congress).
Let us not forget that Obama's lackeys looked to Romneycare as the principal model by which to construct the basic framework of the Obamacare monstrosity.
Combine that fact with the clear inferences to be drawn from statements he made all along the campaign trail this year as in 2008, and it becomes painfully obvious that Romney is no less a statist powermonger than Obama.
The only real difference between the two of them is that they each pander to opposite halves of the divided & conquered voting public in their rhetoric.
In substance they are really no different. Anyone who believes otherwise is duped; if not by the two-party duopoly Establishment, then by their own selves.
Romney's message is one that includes all Americans.
Yes, it includes all Americans.... as slaves to the all-powerful Welfare-Warfare State.
But then, so does Obama's; so big deal.
What we need in Washington is fewer lawyers and more business persons.
Big difference between that and a 3000+ page thing that most of the idiots in Washington still have not read and which grows larger all the time, since there were blank spaces that the DHS folks can fill in as we go along.
The majority of the people in America do NOT want a national plan. So he pushes for no national medical plan.
Who can object to either of those actions?
He believes it should be done on a state level if the people want it.
He does not believe it should be done on a national level when the people don't want it.
That is a clear understanding of how government should be run. Thank God some people are still clear headed enough to understand that principle.
Biden Addresses Empty Seats at NAACP Convention
I was very proud of Romney in his speech to NAACP. He stayed perfectly honest, not being evasive or double minded. He handled the boos in a friendly manner. Smiled, but watched the audience closely and received their opinion. I thought it was the best he's ever been.
