Sometimes being a celebrity doesn't pay off. That's especially true when someone like Iron Chef Cat Cora does something illegal like driving under the influence.

The host of Around the World in 80 Plates made a name for herself for her cool demeanor under pressure, at least in the kitchen. However, it seems the Iron Chef was anything but cool when she rear-ended a car last month.
The other vehicle's owner alleged that Cora seemed drunk at the time of the accident. The police officer on the scene also suspected alcohol involvement. Therefore, he administered sobriety tests. Sadly, the famed chef failed them all.
Cat Cora admitted to consuming three beers before she got behind the wheel on her car shortly after 6:00 p.m. on June 17th. That resulted in her registering a blood alcohol level nearly double that allowed both in Breathalyzer tests and through a blood sample.
Iron Chef Cat Cora went to a sobering center to recover after getting a citation for DUI. After the event, she issued a statement saying, "I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable." She also issued an apology: "I learned a very important lesson from this experience and take full accountability for my actions. This will never happen again."
Let's hope not. Cat Cora is a role model for women and young girls who want to make something of themselves in the future. Therefore, she bears a responsibility to act in a lawful and respectful way even when she's not in the public eye. Here's hoping she really did learn her lesson and avoids any future DUI arrests.
