Does anyone know what activities you get points for on Gather and what activities you don’t get points for? To satisfy my curiosity I would like to know.

I seem to get points when I post articles and pictures as well as when I comment on other people's stuff. I think I've been getting points for long conversations I've been having with one of the gather members too but I'm not sure

I don't think Gather has ever disclosed this. It seems to vary and if they haven't disclosed then they can pretty much award points as they see fit.

Make friends, post pics, videos and articles, comment, recommened, view and get comments...and ALBUMS ALBUMS ALBUMS...have fun gathering and it will all fall into place!

I suspect that you are right, because I used to get a couple of points for just viewing things, even if I didn't leave a comment, but now it seems that I do not get any points for that.

In my experience, I get more points for posting than I do for commenting . It also helps YOU if we recommend a post instead of ONLY commenting. Some people comment but they don't recommend.

It seems to me that Gather points are awarded for different activities, including not only posting & commenting, but also the number of views your content receives. So the more you share your content with other people and on other websites, the better.

I am with Peter, I think they keep mixing it up to prevent us taking advantage of it. Personally, I earn more when I post regularly, and also when I join commenting groups. When I joined the first time I was told to put up at least one new thing daily and comment comment comment.

I wish I could help William. There are other things worth worrying about, not the points on Gather...

As you know already, I am not member in any group, but I am interested in seeing the traffic on my postings. The traffic does not seem to matter for me. I don't get points for days and all of a sudden I get one or two a day.

For years I was not active on Gather and for doing nothing I got 8 points. No idea why, maybe an anniversary present? Now that I am more active the points seem to be growing like others said 1 or 2 per day...

I'm not aware of any published list. Its fair to say that if you post something and a lot of people comment on it, you will get more points. I do believe they said, back when it was introduced, that pings would not receive points. Those are the only two things I can say for sure.

I have noticed that I sometimes get more points when I comment than others, so I suspect they have a rotating algorithm.

you get points for the views you get and that is it, but to get views you have to post and comment and make friends

And do what I call: read arounds. When someone comments on me - I comment back or the other way around.

There are some authors here I read each time I sign in to gather. Kasey Klein is my favorite. Excellent writer.

Also, it seems to me if you join a lot of groups you have a better chance of being read and making friends.

I had thought you got points for interacting with others but I don't know if that's true. Really I don't have any idea. Points just are or aren't forthcoming. It's all so random.

My points seem to go up when I respond to comments made on my stuff, you know like when a conversation keeps going between to people.

All I do is leave a comment for a comment. Posts photos and articles.
I have Gather sent to sent me emails when my friends post something. i don't always get those. I also have gather sent me emails when someone replies to my comment. I try and respond and keep the conversation going if I can.

It's hard to spend hours here every single day and see such a small move in points and then hear about other people getting 200 points a day for doing nothing... LOL!! I'll never know but some days certainly are better than others!
