Prince William added another feather to his cap when his mother, the Queen, made him a knight of the Order of the Thistle. The order is one of the most revered groups in the United Kingdom, and it is fairly common for the royal family to belong to it.
Of course, William's wife Kate Middleton was in attendance. She was reportedly on her best royal behavior and wearing a pale yellow coat dress. The Prince, however, looked fairly ridiculous in a velvet cloak and cap sporting a giant feather, but it's apparently the traditional garb for gaining knighthood into the Scottish order.
Regardless of Prince's attire, everyone in attendance had to keep a straight face since it is apparently a great honor to join the order. During the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II expressed her joy at the ceremony. "It is our pleasure that His Royal Highness the Prince William, Earl of Strathearn, be installed a Knight of the most ancient and most noble Order of the Thistle."
Whether the Prince and Kate were as pleased as the Queen, it does give Kate a reason to call her royal hubby 'Sir' behind closed doors.

Why write about such tings if all you can do is sneer?
