Ersan Ilyasova could become a member of the Brooklyn Nets if the team can't figure out a way to bring in Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. It seems that Ilyasova is a back-up plan and that a sign-and-trade deal could get worked out with the Milwaukee Bucks if nothing comes to fruition involving Howard.
Ilyasova has received a contract offer from the Bucks of $40 million over the next five years, but it doesn't look like he is close at all to accepting that deal. At just 25 years old, Ilyasova is definitely a great role player in the league, even if he hasn't received front page attention during his time in Milwaukee.
Last season, over 60 games with the Bucks, Ilyasova averaged 13 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He was definitely very helpful to the success that the Bucks did find, but he could be much better for a team that allowed him to stay in the position of a role player. The fact that he is really good from three-point range simply comes as a bonus.
If the Nets really did acquire Ilyasova, as the NBA trade rumors are starting to indicate is possible, that would seem to also indicate that they would have to part ways with Brook Lopez. Despite being very busy in the NBA offseason already, it doesn't appear like the Nets are close to quieting down yet.
Does it make sense for the Brooklyn Nets to bring in Ersan Ilyasova in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks? What would the Bucks want in return for them to even consider a trade like this?
