So many things happened all at the same time in the past 2 weeks!
First of all, I suddenly got sick last Wednesday. I was coughing non-stop and completely lost my voice. My doctor's office was moving, so they were closed during the move. Then over the weekend, we had a massive power outage in the area. So my doctor's office, even though they finished moving, had lost power and was closed on Monday and Tuesday. Today, of course, they were closed due to the July 4th holiday. So I will call them first thing tomorrow morning, but I am not sure I will be able to get an appointment because I am sure many other sick people are trying to see the doctors as well.
Secondly, we had a major power outage Friday night. This was the biggest power outage I ever had since I moved to the United States 15 years ago. We didn't have power for 23 hours, and the house was so hot that I was really afraid Kyleigh and my mom would be overheated. My car was also locked inside the garage because the garage door opener would not work without electricity. Luckily my neighbor helped me open the door manually so at least I could drive to the mall to cool down.
Overall we were still the lucky ones, because there are still people without electricity right now (that is over 4 days already). Saturday night when the power came back and I turned on the A/C, the house was so hot that the temperature only went down 2 degrees between 10 PM and 2 AM when I went to bed. I was so upset because I thought my A/C was broken. But I was glad when I woke up freezing at 5 AM.
This really makes me realize how dependent we are on electricity these days. I didn't have hot drinking water because the hot water dispenser needed power; I couldn't cook because the stove and the microwave were electric; I almost couldn't get my car out because of the automated garage door opener; and of course, no light, no internet, no TV, and no phone (because my home phone is an IP phone that depended on a working modem). Even my cell phone was constantly telling me "Network Busy".
But there was still good news amongst all the crazy things. When I took my mom out to the mall to cool down, I treated her to a really nice dinner for her birthday - Yes it was her birthday! We enjoyed a really nice meal along with fantastic desserts.

Anyway, glad you got your power back. We also have an electric garage door opener. When we lost our power, my hubby had to open the door manually so we could go out and go to our friends house to wash, recharge our phones and iPod's, and to get warm. It was the worst.
Glad your power came back on. I feel bad for those who are still out of power. They say that my state got hit with no power yesterday but not in our area. We had power all day.
