Is Gotye dead? Not at all, but he is sadly the latest victim of yet another celebrity online death hoax which claimed that the Australian singer tragically committed suicide.
A CNN iReport, which unbelievably allows readers to post unedited 'breaking news', announced that the singer's death had even been confirmed by his family members. How tragic to include his family in this fabricated garbage!
Gotye (Wally De Backer) has catapulted into the spotlight recently with his hit song Somebody That I Used To Know. Luckily, he quickly spread the good news that he was very much still alive and able to produce more great songs by tweeting: "I'm not dead". His management also tweeted to let fans know that the report was a fake: "We're happy to report Wally is alive and well. Tell your friends :D".
So, is Gotye dead? Definitely not! And, thankfully, he caught this fake story and put an end to it before it got too far. Why do people find these disturbing death hoaxes so amusing anyway?
