Zayn Malik was recently spotted wearing a curse word on his chest! But the One Direction singer hasn't gotten a new naughty tattoo—he was photographed wearing a very classy "F*** You" shirt.
Justin Bieber, who has admitted that Zayn is his favorite 1D band member, has been photographed wearing a similar shirt. But the Biebs' F-You shirt, which referenced Cee Lo Green's hit song, was censored so as not to
offend any of his young fans. Zayn's shirt featured the F-word without any asterisks filling in for letters.
So why was Zayn wearing the F-You shirt?
Even though Zayn is quiet and shy, his many tattoos have led to him being labeled One Direction's resident bad boy (every boy band has to have one). So perhaps he's just trying to live up to his image.
Hopefully the shirt isn't evidence that he's angry or upset about something, like relationship troubles with girlfriend Perrie Edwards. He was photographed wearing the "F*** you. Have A Nice Day" shirt shortly before 1D's last concert for their "Up All Night" tour, so perhaps it was meant to be a bit rebellious—it's very possible that the members of One Direction are told to be on their best behavior while they're touring since they have a lot of young, impressionable fans. Now that the tour is over, Zayn Malik might be celebrating the freedom to do (and wear) whatever he wants.
He and his band mates will certainly enjoy their break, and hopefully Perrie Edwards will be able to help her boyfriend chill out if there is something bothering him. Not too long ago, a conservative blogger attacked Zayn for being Muslim, so perhaps his fashion statement is aimed at her. The blogger's criticism of Zayn came after he was photographed wearing a Muslim scarf called a keffiyeh, so it would make sense to respond with another piece of clothing.
Zayn Malik managed to survive that ill-advised attack, so hopefully he's ready for all the criticism that will come with wearing the F-word on his chest. After all, it was a BFD when Justin Bieber did it, and he wasn't even brave enough to step out rocking the full word on his shirt.
